What are the strenghts and weaknesses of the Common Framework of Reference for Intercultural Digital Literacies?
Question
  • Jan 2020
We are a research group of people working in multimodal digital literacies. After a three-year project (please see http://www.eumade4ll.eu/ ), we produced the "Common Framework of Reference for Intercultural Digital Literacies" by analysing digital materials produced by students in the project (i.e. 'about us' webpages, blogs, fanvid/mash-up videos, promotional videos, video interactions) and designing tools for assessment and self-assessment.
We are very much interested in receiving feedback on our work.

Invitation to a "Survey about factors for the assessment of walkability in urban environments"
Question
  • Oct 2021
Hello, colleagues!
My name is Christiano Piccioni Toralles, I am a professor at the Inst. Fed. of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and student of the Doctoral Program in Spatial Planning at Un. Coimbra (Portugal), under the supervision of prof. Anabela Ribeiro. I'm here inviting volunteers to collaborate as an expert with my Ph.D. research on urban mobility, specially dedicated to walkability, in an inter/multimodal, inclusive, and participatory perspective.
The form link is found below. It starts with a brief explanation of the proposal and the Consent Form, then moving on to the questionnaire itself.
  • Form in English: <https://forms.gle/uEbwPvFbUL9Ly3R56>
  • Form in Portuguese (if you prefer): <https://forms.gle/QQogLjupNG1Kgves7>
  • At the beginning of the form, there are instructions for translating into other languages, if necessary.
Globally and mandatorily, this questionnaire has 222 questions with multiple choice answers, except for two open-ended questions (one for the name of your city and the last one for optional comments or suggestions), with an estimated duration of 30 minutes.
This research has as its target audience only professionals who work in urban planning, mainly dedicated to the theme of urban mobility, in public or private institutions, including academic-scientific. Planners, designers, researchers, and teachers are invited to respond. There are no restrictions about their professional qualification (for example, in Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Geography, Public Health, Environmental Psychology, Tourism, Sociology, Anthropology, etc.), as long as they have some experience in the subject.
If you have any questions or would like to request further information, feel free to write on this forum. Or you can contact me by email: <christiano.toralles@riogrande.ifrs.edu.br>.
Thank you for your attention.

Question
  • Feb 2018
The MSBI Department of psychiatry is announcing the availability of positions for postdoctoral training in suicide assessment and research. The fellowship provides up to two years of stipend support and related benefits for early career clinicians considering careers in suicide prevention research. Each fellow will works closely with a mentor, take courses, as well as participate in a variety of suicide assessment and suicide research related activities
The emphasis of MSBI suicide prevention research is on the identification and treatment of those at risk of imminent suicidal behavior. The fellows will have an exceptional opportunity to join our ongoing studies and conduct comprehensive, multi-informant and multimodal assessments of suicidal individuals. Fellows will also have an opportunity to participate in the development of exciting new and innovative suicide prevention methods within the ZEROSUICIDE framework.
This fellowship is designed for trainees with backgrounds in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, and social work. Applicants will need to submit a CV, a statement of career goals and interests, academic transcripts, and provide names of three individuals familiar with the candidate’s academic performance.

CFP - SI : Information Fusion for Medical Data : IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics

CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue Call for Papers - Information Fusion for Medical Data: early, late and deep fusion methods for multimodal data
https://jbhi.embs.org/special-issues/information-fusion-for-medical-data-early-late-and-deep-fusion-methods-for-multimodal-data/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aims and Scope -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Medical data exists in a broad range of formats, from structured data and medical reports to 1D signals, 2D images and 3D volumes or even higher dimensional data such as temporal 3D sequences. Think about the assessment of the functioning of the heart, for instance. A physician can make an auscultation and produce a report in text format; an electrocardiogram can be made and printed in time series format, an x-ray can be performed and saved as an image; a volume can be provided through an angiography; temporal information can be given by echocardiograms, 4D information can be extracted through flow MRI. Another typical source of variability is the existence of data from different time points, such as pre and post treatment, for instance. This high and diverse amount of information needs to be organized and mined in an appropriate way so that meaningful information can be extracted. Several questions, however, arise when dealing with these situations. Should different types of information be treated differently? Should a common framework be derived? Are new analytic approaches needed? It is our hope that these and other questions will be addressed by this special issue.
In this call, we focus on sharing recent advances in algorithms and applications that involve combining multiple sources of medical information. Topics appropriate for this special issue include novel supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised and reinforcement algorithms, new architectures, new formulations, and applications related to medical information fusion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Topics of Interest -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Topics appropriate for this special issue include (but are not limited to):
-Analysis on fusion of big medical data -Applications of multimodal learning in image and computer vision medical areas -Combining multiple models for medical data -Combining multiple sources in medical data -Cross modality learning -Feature fusion for medical data -Early and late fusion approaches -Hierarchical models for medical information fusion -Improved algorithms for medical information fusion -Intelligent systems for medical information fusion -Joint feature learning -Medical multi-sensor fusion -Multimodal metric learning for medical applications -New models for multimodal medical data -Transfer learning in multimodal medical data -Deep learning with inputs from several data sources
Manuscripts must clearly delineate the role of information fusion for medical data. The manuscript should include new contributions beyond those made in earlier publications. Review works will not be considered in this special issue. Contributions should be described in sufficient detail to be reproducible on the basis of the material and references presented in the paper.

In regards to DVT prophylaxis following hip and knee arthroplasty, what data exists in regards to patient risk stratification?
Question
  • May 2016
Some arthroplasty surgeons advocate for an individualized DVT prophylaxis regimen following hip and knee arthroplasty, one that balances safety and efficacy, based on an individual patient risk factors for developing a DVT. However, there seems to be a lack of high-quality data to guide surgeons when making this determination.
These are the only studies I could find:
