I am collecting Macrocystis pyrifera seeds off the West Coast of South Africa, I am wondering how can I tell when they are ripe?

After mapping South African kelp forests, my next project entails experimenting with inducing and propagation the less dominant species Macrocystis pyrifera. I have been reading up literature on how to identify the sori or pouch and identify healthy and fit parent plants to targets. But I can not find anything on what period am I most likely to get ripe seeds. So that when I propagate the seeds I get higher chances of reproducing these in a lab environment.

Dear all,
I need close-up pictures or cartoon images of the following brown algae species:
- Fucus serratus
- Fucus vesiculosus
- Undaria pinnatifida
- Macrocystis pyrifera
- Ecklonia maxima
- Sargassum fusiforme
- Cladosiphon okamurans
- Lessonia nigrescens
- Durvellia potatorum

Someone who has used a RNeasy PowerPlant Kit, Qiagen in brow algae (Kelp)?

I need a recommendation for the use of the RNeasy PowerPlant Kit, Qiagen. I have done RNA isolation tests for Macrocystis pyrifera (kelp), nevertheless I have obtained little amount of RNA. The first step has been replaced by the use of liquid nitrogen (for recommendation) but I think that this step may be the problem.

Other microscopic kelp sporophytes measurement ? I would like to ask about any other microscopic sporophytes kelp (now working on Macrocystis pyrifera-giant kelp and ecklonia radiata) measurement other than surface area and that I can measure under image analysis such as image J? sporophytes length maybe ?
