I have 5,000 museum land snail records from the state of Georgia that I would like to use a program like GEOLocate to obtain X,Y data from locality descriptions. This is part of a larger manuscript on the land snails of GA that is mainly written except for this portion. I was looking for hotspots of land snail diversity across Europe...

Recently I came across a Giant African land snail (Achatina fulica) scavenging on another dead individual (maybe crushed by a speeding vehicle) in Assam, India. Going through available literature I couldn't find any related reports. Can anyone enlighten me in this regards?

Water transport is suggested as a means of their dispersal, but how likely is that?

The rheophile snail Ancylus fluviatilis seems quite demanding and difficult to rear in captivity. Does anyone have suggestions? I tried to keep them in flumes with circular current while feeding them with biofilm on ceramic tiles, but they always died within a short time. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

African giant snail Achatina achatina is not protected under any conservation law in Nigeria; probably this is responsible for tactical changing in searching intensity of snail from subsistence reasons to commercial purposes which involves the use of local foul smelling chemical that serves as snail attractant and improve their congregation wherever the chemical is spread thereby increasing number of catch. My interest is how to identify this local chemical and analytically determine its effects on the animal and human who eventually consumed it.
