The Soviet Union had a short period of influence in Africa during the Cold-War, however the questions of the Suez Crisis, the Casablanca Bloc and the proxy war in Angola put the Soviets as one of the principal actors in that continent.

I am writing my Master thesis about the reasons for the authoritarian shift of Russia and its implications (for the post-Soviet states)

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and thanks to this disintegration in the philosophical space of Russia, significant quantitative and qualitative changes took place. To a certain extent, this process also touched upon the Russian philosophy of history as part of the philosophical science. Actually, the philosophy of history in Russia has gone far beyond the limits of Soviet historical materialism and now exists as a collection of diverse philosophical and historical concepts and theories whose creators and carriers prefer to improve your philosophical and historical views and their propaganda. Mutual criticism of supporters of various philosophical and historical trends remains in the shady part of the Russian philosophical space (opposition of dissertations, discussions at scientific seminars and symposiums) and is not carried to the pages of journals and books, as a rule. Therefore, strictly scientific, objective systematization of modern Russian philosophical and historical theories, concepts and schools is a very important task for the Russian and world philosophy of history.

Prior to the fall of the Wall, the world was divided into two economic blocs - the Western capitalist bloc led by the United States and the Eastern communist bloc led by the Soviet Union. It is understandable that the division created significant barriers to trade and investment between the two blocs.

How did the fall of this wall impact the trade in Europe as well as world trade?

You find that history repeats itself between 1945 and now, when the world was divided into two poles, and now the BRICS pole.

ABSTRACT:

Human spaceflight was one of the great physiological and engineering triumphs of the 20th century. Although the history of the United States manned space program is well known, the Soviet program was shrouded in secrecy until recently. Konstantin Edvardovich Tsiolkovsky (1857–1935) was an extraordinary Russian visionary who made remarkable predictions about space travel in the late 19th century. Sergei Pavlovich Korolev (1907–1966) was the brilliant “Chief Designer” who was responsible for many of the Soviet firsts, including the first artificial satellite and the first human being in space. The dramatic flight of Sputnik 1 was followed within a month by the launch of the dog Laika, the first living creature in space. Remarkably, the engineering work for this payload was all done in less than 4 wk. Korolev's greatest triumph was the flight of Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (1934–1968) on April 12, 1961. Another extraordinary feat was the first extravehicular activity by Aleksei Arkhipovich Leonov (1934–) using a flexible airlock that emphasized the entrepreneurial attitude of the Soviet engineers...

It is often incorrectly claimed that the European Union is responsible for peace in Europe since Victory in Europe day in 1944. That is not possible as the EU has existed only 26 years being created by the Maastricht Treaty, of November 1, 1993.

NATO and not the EU was responsible for the security of NATO states.

Further the history of Europe has been marred by war and genocide, notably in the Third Balkan war of 1991-2001. In addition to that Greece, Spain, and Portugal were dictatorships as late as the 1970s and Yugoslavia was held together by President Tito's regime until his death.

Additionally, the EU's short history is characterised by the unprecedented social, political and economic instability it has overseen and fostered. President Barak Obama warned against policies like austerity but the EU pressed ahead making money for the banks and increasing poverty, unemployement and unrest in Europe.

So what are the true conditions to foster peace and inhibit war?
