Are within case and cross case analysis in single case study is appropriate?
Question
  • Dec 2021
In a recent project of mine, I have analyzed elementary teachers' cognition in integrated STEM education. I aimed the study to be a multiple case study since it would help creating a tentative theory. Therefore, I utilized constant comparative method and I conducted within case analysis and cross case analysis to identify the similarities and differences.
However, reviewers thought that this would better be a single case study. I am going to change the method accordingly.
My question is whether I should keep the within case analysis and/or cross case analysis?

How to do a mixed-methods single case study research with only one participant?
Question
  • Aug 2021
Hi,
I would like to know how to do a mixed-methods single case study research with only one participant in the study.
I have developed a teaching guide and I would to test the effectiveness of the teaching guide. Qualitative data will be obtained by interviews and observations. Pre-and post-tests questionnaires will be applied to collect quantitative data. I do not know how to analyse the collected quantitative data as only one participant is involved in the study.
I would appreciate it if someone could give me some advice.
Thank you.

Mixed Method Case study and epistemology debate around it
Question
  • Aug 2020
Hello,
I hope you will find this in good health, I am in a situation of How and Why related research and have opted a single case study to find the answers.
1. I am not developing any new theory, and I have a constraint of time for the interviews.
2. The firm under scope does not have any literature available on it.
I do not want to waste time on introductory questions about the firm and the person, and I have an option to ask the interview respondents fill a questionnaire about the firm and themselves.
The research is qualitative, is it suitable for deductive approach here?
Can I use questionnaire as a method?

Question

I am conducting a longitudinal case study to explore a new phenomenon and gain better insights into participants' views. Quantitative data is required to check any preconceptions participants have through the use of questionnaires. The analyzed data will provide input for QUAL data. So, it is a sequential mixed-method approach yet it is exploratory not an exploratory case study. Is it possible or am I missing out on something?
Your help is highly appreciated

How to improve reliability of findings from a research that employed a case study research method?
Question
  • Apr 2014
Currently a case study method is using research in many fields. This method employs to examine very few cases in-depth. The question of reliability comes when the situation and the context change with the time. Most probably, one cannot repeat the same experiment twice since both the context and the situation vary with the time which cannot regain.
