Ukraine is a nation of forty-five million people which gained independence after the dismantling of the Soviet Union in 1991. Ukraine has since been living in economic turmoil and financial crisis. The crisis is a product of twenty years of mismanagement, weak governance, and great differences between the Ukrainians on issues of language, belief, and ethnicity of the eastern and western parts of the nation. Ukraine did not succeed in building a strong economy and reformed political and economic institutions. Currently, the west is trying its utmost best to pull Ukraine to its side, and to install economic aid programs to boost the Ukrainian economy. Ukrainians are willing to join the European Union and enjoy all the benefits therewith, to improve their standards of living and develop their nation. Russia looks at Ukraine as a back yard or a front yard that is essential for Russian stability and security. Russia views the western involvement in Ukraine a threat to its interests and a new phase of the old cold war. Therefore, is Ukraine caught in a delicate game of Russian ideology or Russian interests? Moreover, is Ukraine the focus of western ideology vis-à-vis democracy and all the good values therewith or the focus of western interests? How could the crisis end?

The hypothesis I make here is that if you understand the philosophical background of your scientific field of study, it will help you in doing better research, in the problems you solve, the questions you ask at the problem solving, in the way you approach problem solving, the tools you use and the way you communicate your results. Maybe it also help to determine how you behave in life, also here on the platform.
In general, science is divided in three branches: formal, natural and social- and they again are divided into sub-branches with everyone their own way of thinking, their philosophical approach. Therefore, you have e.g. the philosophy of economics, the philosophy of physics, of art, technology, history, mathematics, business administration, engineering and so on.
People in the same field of study can differ of opinion about the philosophy of their science. Understanding the philosophical approach of other scientists and researchers here on the platform can help improve the communication.
Dear colleagues, maybe you can help answering this question: What is the philosophy or your scientific field about and how do you practice that philosophy doing your science?

ABSTRACT
The growing interconnectedness of global business has led to a surge in international assignments, especially in the disruptive technology sector. Despite their importance, the large failure rates of these assignments highlight the need for effective strategies to support cross-cultural adaptation. This study examines the key factors that influence the success of international assignments, with an emphasis on the challenges and opportunities within the disruptive technology sector. To address the central question — "What factors affect the effectiveness of international assignments in cross-cultural settings?" — this study uses an integrative literature review to analyze findings from empirical, theoretical, quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method, and ethnographic research. The findings suggest that cultural intelligence, overcoming language barriers, building trust, and adapting to diverse cultural environments are critical to achieving positive outcomes. The study also introduces the concept of Third Culture Individuals (TCIs), i.e. those uniquely positioned to overcome cross-cultural challenges due to their ability to seamlessly integrate into different cultural environments. By identifying these factors, this study offers insights into international human resource management, offering practical strategies to improve the success rates of international assignments. These findings have broader implications for strengthening organizational competitiveness and advancing individual career growth in a globalized economy.

Decolonizing the education system has been a topic covered by a multitude of scholars in the disciplines of Sociology, psychology, Political Economy and even Political Sciences. Its main goal has been the detachment of the curriculum from its Western-centric or Euro-American pedagogy. Third world scholars claim that their voices have been ignored in the academy; furthermore, their unique perspectives and epistemologies have been suppressed, silenced and avoided. Mainstream theories of the Western world have been exported to the developing countries, compelling third world students to adapt to the knowledge economy replicating the developed countries; even after graduation, they go on to become technical workers and managers for transnational corporations. Therefore, the form of education that the Western world is spreading all over the world is in the form of an industrial trainer which benefits their International Enterprises as they absorb the educational conformist learners at the end in the job market. The postcolonial condition has witnessed the continuation of colonial administrations, business functions and path-dependence whereas the sources of income for the employed requires technical learning and highly vocational skills from the youth. Third World academics have only been given the task of interpreting Western discourse, language, International standards and educational benchmarks, without necessarily producing their own knowledge, participating and advocating their opinions and experiences. Third World academics have had to play the catch up game with the West, losing more and more courage to produce their own unique, specific, geographically located and relevant ideas. Books in institutions of higher learning, and also journal articles are usually Western-oriented. How can the third world create its own discourse, pedagogy, perspective, knowledge, theories and ideas in the 21st century? Most Third World scholars do publish books and journals intended at critiquing the continuing domination in the economic and intellectual sphere by the West, but their critiquing never follows any practical and useful recommendations nor does it provide any frontiers or introduce other ways of doing and thinking for the decolonial goal in education to be progressive and successful. What hinders the decolonization process in education?

Darwinian evolution's central tenet, survival of the fittest, exhibits marked similarities with market economy principles, where successful businesses thrive while others perish. This notion has evolved into a sophisticated scientific theory explaining evolution through natural selection, with profound implications for chemical evolution, language development, social organization, and cultural transmission, particularly in Organizational Ecology research. This organizational studies subfield utilizes an ecological approach to investigate organizational populations, analogous to biological investigations of organismal diversity. Organizational Ecology views organizations as evolutionary adaptations to their economic and social environments, resulting in diverse organizational forms through natural selection. Critics, however, contest Organizational Ecology's evolutionary status due to discrepancies between organizational and biological populations. Generalized Darwinism, grounded in evolutionary economics, extends biological evolutionary processes to social domains, rendering social change Darwinian, despite criticisms regarding ambiguous social population reproduction and interaction mechanisms and inadequate similarities with biological phenomena. The Darwinian framework also illuminates chemical evolution research, exploring chemical catalyst development through selectionist frameworks. Nonetheless, concerns persist regarding the applicability of heritability and fitness concepts in chemical evolution, requiring more precise compartmentalization and genetic definitions.

USAMV Cluj-Napoca is the first in Romania to promote the NON-SMOKING CAMPUS.
I ask you to help me to PROMOTE A NON-SMOKING POLICY ON YOUR UNIVERSITY CAMPUS. You are a student, professor, in the senate, please lets VOTE FOR NON SMOKING ON CAMPUS. PROHIBIT SMOKING on campus.
No special places for smoking. No special treatment for smokers.
We can’t construct professionals without educating citizens. Life needs to be protected. Public health needs protection.
We should promote Life and Health. Besides the Human Condition positive results, we reduce resources consumption resulting to a positive Global Economy, to a Sustainable Development and furthermore to overall Ecological Protection.
Please see the article attached available in Files folder of this group.
FILE NAME: USAMV Newsletter 21 tipar Cluj Napoca - Romania - Feb 2011 - cut version- Stop Smoking by ATW see pg15
ARTICLE TITLE:
STOP FUMATULUI LA USAMV CLUJ-NAPOCA, în UNIVERSITĂŢILE din ROMÂNIA şi ORIUNDE în LUME
Pentru o Românie şi o dezvoltare durabilă
EN ) Stop Smoking within USAMV Cluj-Napoca and All Romanian University campuses and Anywhere in the World – for a Sustainable Romania and Development
We can not build one way and destruct the other ways. Education must be sustainable only this way we can hope for sustainable developments, for economic stability and environmental protection.
The article is in Romanian language and is attached to the file folder (please see page 15 of the publication).
The English abstract is enclosed here:
ABSTRACT:
The article is in Romanian language and it marks the beginning of Stop Smoking campaign within the University campuses in Romania, starting with the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca. It encourages students and professors to stop smoking on the campus and anywhere. The essential purpose of an educational institution, of a university is to prepare professionals. USAMV Cluj-Napoca being a Life Sciences University has a more accentuated obligation not to only research Life Sciences but also to protect Human Life and its Human Condition. Healthy professionals are a better, sustainable investment.
Stopping smoking assures public health, reduces public expenditures and wasted natural resources. Therefore, smoking has a huge negative impact upon the Global Ecological and Economical problems given the inter-dependence of resources and of the negative outcomes of tobacco consumption. The article is also an invitation to observe 31-st of May as the „Make Every Day World No Tobacco Day” initiated recently by the World Health Organization (WHO). The article calls for initiating in Romania such campaign and the 31-st of May to be a day to celebrate the success.
To mention sadly, it is very difficult to lunch an initiative in Romania.
The article in essence, using Romanian language says: Recent, Organizaţia Mondială a Sănătăţii (WHO), a declarat 31 Mai a fi ziua Mondială împotriva fumatului. Numită „FĂ FIECARE ZI ZIUA MONDIALĂ FĂRĂ TUTUN,.” USAMV Cluj-Napoca poate pre-întâmpina ziua de 31 mai dând un exemplu în rândul universităţilor din România.
I invite readers (and members of this group) to take a stand and send to the University an email or even better a paper letter via regular / registered mail and express your point of view. It is a beginning of a major project and I need any possible support from allover the World and from Romania as well.
It is not a domestic concern; it is not a National concern. It has a Global Impact as the borders that divide us are just symbolic.
Thank you,
Adrian Toader-Williams

Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu - National Louis University is considering tendering for a project financed by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PAED). The main aim of the project is to create a publication on the use of econometric modelling in the evaluation of public programmes, policies, strategies and regulations. The publication (book) must consist of 8 articles in Polish (minimum 25K characters each). The deadline for preparing those 8 papers - including their content edition - is June 3rd ,2019. The deadline for completing the entire book (proof-reading etc.) is July 10th, 2019. PAED (PARP) is supposed to select 8 papers out of 10 proposed in the tender.
I would be more than happy to arrange 2 more papers as different thematic examples of using microeconometric modelling in the evaluation of public policies (e.g. labour market, firm competitiveness, environment). I would want the authors to share their achievements in the field of the microeconometric evaluation of public policies (e.g. outcomes, methodological advantages and drawbacks, concepts to improve this research method, counterfactual analysis, etc.). What is more, the role of the micro-analysis for the procedure of calculating spill-over elasticities at the macro-level could be described.
Thus, I would like to find out if there are any experts conducting this type of microeconometric research in the EU who would be willing to write a text and be a part of the book. As I mentioned I need two more papers. The analysis of the impacts of the innovation-supporting policies would be especially welcome. However, any other thematic fields are also needed.
A book is targeted at a more general audience of policy makers and others. The technical/scientific language should not be exaggerated. Unfortunately, the book is supposed to be in Polish. However, we would bear the translation costs (from English into Polish). Moreover, there are no geographical constraints, hence, you are not obliged to write a paper on the Polish economy.

Let us suppose that we take two large sets of ceramic artifacts from two different ancient cultures. If we familiarize ourselves with these artifacts over some considerable period of time, then, it would not surprise me if, when presented with a group of artifacts that we had not encountered before, we could correctly identify from which of the two cultures each of the artifacts originated - with some degree of success.
Our success would, in some part, be consequent upon our having identified (intuitively/) and our being able to distinguish the two cultural aesthetics that were implicit in the two sets of artifacts.
From this we might speculate that aesthetics serves cognition in some way - this idea being based upon the observation that there is a deep connection between beauty and "perceptibility". So, what would seem to follow is the idea that the aesthetic sensibility of the ancient craftsmen and craftswomen were, in some part at least, determined (or inspired) by the the cultural artifacts around them when they were growing up. It would seem that aesthetics may well be a self-perpetuating and normalizing process.
If this supposition is true, then we would expect aesthetics to pop up in practically every aspect of social behavior - and it does. All languages have aesthetics that can be most easily heard from people outside of the language. Even fields of scientific study have their unique nomenclatures with recognizable aesthetics. And, in the animal kingdom - well the examples are endless. Perhaps aesthetics is a cognitive manifestation of some principle at the heart of ALL living processes
If there is some fundamental economy at work then, perhaps, we might expect it to be evident even at the level of the personality. Do we intuitively strive to find to a theme that unites the various aspects of our being? Is it more than just, "The tone of someone's voice' that makes it theirs, is it the poetry that is 'them" that makes them recognizable.
A popular question in the internet is, "Why can't we hear our own accents?". The answer, of course, is that we ARE our own accents.
I wonder what the American composer, Charles Ives would have thought of this idea?
