Any suggestions on Eudragit RS-100, Hemostasis and Hemocompatibility?
Question
  • Jan 2016
Anyone know about assays that can be done with Eudragit-RS100 and coagulation/aggregation tests?
Eudragit RS-100 is a cationic non-biodegradable polymer insoluble in water.
I know that is soluble in acetone, for example, but acetone will certainly modify the coagulation/aggregation results.

Will doing APTT or PT help to check hemocompatibility and coagulation effects of nanoparticles administered intravenously?
Question
  • Jan 2014
The nanoparticles I am working on aggregates in physiological media and conditions. In-vivo they seem to accumulate in the liver and spleen, and not in the target site (tumor). I want to compare the hemocompatibility of the unmodified nanoparticles and the PEGylated nanoparticles. I did a in-vitro hemolysis assay using mouse blood, and found unmodified version causes 25% hemolysis.
I would now like to do some more checks to compare the hemocompatibility of the nanoparticles in-vivo.
1.Will doing activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) or prothrombin time (PT) make any sense to my data?
2.Does nanoparticles (no heparin) administered intravenously cause activation of clotting factors by any chance?
3.What other tests can be done to check hemocompatibility in-vivo?

What hemocompatibility tests should be done on hydrogels as wound dressings? What results would tell that it is an effective wound dressing?
Question
  • Oct 2015
I want to understand more on the hemocompatibility tests for hydrogels especially those that are made for wound dressings. I also want to know if they should be more attractive to clotting factors such as platelet, fibrinogen, etc. or not.

How does one test for biocompatibility?
Question
  • Aug 2014
I have a metal layer covered with a powder and I would like to test it for biocompatibility but I have never done such type of tests. Could anyone provide more insight into techniques or methods for testing biocompatibility? After a quick search I found that cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility tests are commonly used.
