Galvanic Cells: Open Circuit Potential , Equilibrium Potential, Standard Potential ; Lets discuss about differences?
Question
  • Feb 2015
Hi All,
I have been studying about galvanic cells related to my project and as there ar many term and titles in electrochemistry, I am confused about differences between these three terms for galvanic cell: OCP, Equilibrium potential, and Standard potential for cells.
Please help me through it, if possible, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Can someone explain if negative current for fuel cell set up is possible?
Question
  • Jan 2017
I was wondering if you observe a negative current in a fuel cell, what does that mean?  Does this mean that the reverse reaction is occurring?
Thank you!

Where does the hydrogen outlet from a PEMFC go?
Question
  • Nov 2015
Usually, for a PEMFC, hydrogen is stored under high pressure and released as per the requirement of the cell/stack and the excess hydrogen gas which could not be diffused my the MEA is drained out through the hydrogen outlet port.
Whether the excess hydrogen is collected in a separate tank? or it is compressed and sent again to the high pressure tank/cell?
Especially in a FCV. (Why FCV's has two hydrogen tanks?)
Thanks in advance..

Has anyone noticed saw tooth behaviour (reversible voltage decay) of PEM fuel cell performance during shutdown and restart?
Question
  • Jun 2016
During a life test (8 hrs/day) of Low temperature PEM fuel cell stack, there is voltage decay by 1-2 mV/hr/cell. On next day after restart, it gains back the voltage for same current and then decay over the day at same rate mentioned above. What is the main reason behind it and how to avoid it?
