Recently, I find it is difficult to score or assess flexibility, a dimension of creativity, in the alternative use test. according to the instruction, The number of different categories is calculated to score flexibility. However, I find it difficult to differentiate different type of categories (or define the boundary of different categories). for example, if there are 50 participants who generate total 240 uses of "newspaper", I may classify them into 20 categories, but maybe another people classify them into 24 categories. which one is correct?
In addition, even 20 is too large for categories to score flexibility. As I read literature, they often use 6-10 categories for an object (e.g. newspaper). but i am not able to reach there (to shorten 20 categories to smaller categories (e.g., 8)).
anyone who can recommend some manual or tell details on how to score flexibility in AUT?
