I need to use Marshall McLuhan theory on Media and I have been told that there are a few prominent scholars who have written books and articles, building on McLuhan’s work and theory “The Medium is the Message”.
My research is to investigate the best ways of dealing with sexual harassment at workplace and the sample universe is female journalists in electronic media. Which theory best suits the topic?
I'm interested in so-called "activity theory" (also know as cultural-historical activity theory). I know it's been mostly used in psychology and studies focused on human-machine interactions.
I think it could have a powerful tool for my research focused how teens use and discuss social media platforms.
I'm therefore looking for sources having a sociological approach, linking activity theory and :
-social media studies
-Sociology in general
I'm also interested in discussing activity theory, its advantages and issues.
Thanks in advance !
I am doing a thematic analysis of advertisements in a migrant-oriented magazine. Thanks in advance for more leads on related literature that critically evaluates advertising and media. On my list so far are Kellner, Croteau, and a few other subject-specific researchers.
I am studying “AL JAZEERA AND THE ARAB SPRING - Framing of the Uprisings in Egypt and Bahrain on the Al Jazeera English and Arabic websites”.
I need a good academic book which has done a similar study on, let’s say CNN covering a conflict in the Middle East so that I can imitate it.
