Cross-cultural psychology / Medical anthropology
Question
  • Aug 2009
I am interested in the role of stress/exposure to duress (phsyical and/or emotional) on peoples in the following high-risk categories:
1) Circumpolar
2) Altiplanar
3) Other difficult environments
4) Social upheaval
Nepal obviously falls under at least the altiplanar group, as would Andean groups and probably Tibetan. Does anyone know of, or have research bearing upon, data or estimations regarding the influence of these factors on behavioral dispositions? Is there, for example, a higher incidence of addiction, mental illnsss, or just certain traits that seems to indicate a genetically-evolved survival mechanism of adaption in the form of psychological predilections of whatever type?
Thx.
BTW you might consider linking this group with cross-cultural psychology, for example.

Could this bamboo part be a part of a prehistoric bamboo flute?
Question
  • Jul 2017
I didn't decide whether I ask this question or not.
Now, I am asking for a possibility.
Datas:
1- The mouth section of this bamboo is the same with ancient Inka bamboo flutes. Quena flutes have this kind of notches. These type flutes are also called as Andean flutes
2- The Notch curve  is semi-circular and so regular. It seems that it didn't occur naturaly.
3- In Nature, The Nodes of a bamboo should be closed.
But, The node of this bamboo part is open. It is drilled.
There is an impotant question about this third data; How was its node  drilled?
4. There is only one hole.
The first three datas are positive. but this data is neutral.
A beak of a bird could have made this hole. But if a beak had made this hole,  there should have been another hole at the back side of this hole.
My opinion: There is only one hole on it, because it is paleolithic, it is so old.
