Pakshaghata (Stroke) is Vata Pradhana disorder which is caused by vitiated Vata; there are several Vatavyadh is described in ancient Ayurvedic texts among them lot of diseases might be related with neurological disorders according to their cardinal signs and symptoms. According to modern point of view an origin of neurological disorders is brain and central nervous system; but in Ayuvedic classics there is no any relation of Vatavyadhi and Shirahh (Brain) even any clue also not mentioned regarding the relation of the same. Present article evaluate the correlation between involvement of Shirahh Pradesh in Pakshaghata and other neurological disorders.

Panchakarma procedures are the major assets for Ayurveda which are to be carried out with the proper matra or dosage system. In today's era, in modern practice, the dosages are decided on the basis of weight of the patient irrespective of gender, age, time, personal constitution. Whereas in Panchakarma, the matra fixation is not based on the above factors. It needs a broader as well as keen vision for deciding the same. Every Panchakarma, procedure has its own dosage system. This article throws light on various aspects involved in the process of dose fixation of various Panchakarma drugs, their standard dosages and complications occurring due to improper administration of these dosages.


PHYSIOLOGY OF PRODUCTION OF SPEECH (VAAKPRAVRUTTI): AN AYURVEDA VIEW

Vaak Pravrutti (Production of Speech) is one of the highest functions of human being which is necessary to express our thoughts and views about any particular thing. Process of speech initiate in Shira. This sensory order is carried out by Vata upto Vagendriyas. Udana Vayu plays an important role in production of speech. Mana is Ubhyendriya which leads all Indriya. It plays a major role in carrying out thought process. Thoughts are expressed through the way of Shabda (Vaak). Speech depends upon the coordinated activities of central and peripheral speech apparatus. Development of speech involves integration of important areas of cerebral cortex namely Wernicke's area, Broca's area and motor area of dominant hemisphere. In the present article, various aspects of production of speech are discussed from Ayurveda and modern point of view.
