As in other cases of recovery from criminalized pasts, such as those of gang members or prisoners (Flores 2016;Moran 2014), the negative experiences during sex work, such as violence, victimization, and captivity, continue to have a debilitating impact on the lives of these women after they exit sex work (Wilson and Butler 2013). Most often, women exiting sex work are left with a range of health complications, drug addictions, stigmas, and difficulties in transitioning into mainstream society (Farley 2003;Jackson et al. 2007;Raymond et al. 2002;Sallmann 2010).
