One dimensional model was accepted for mass transfer problem. The time dependence of mesh surface for deposition was simplified and the mesh arrangement optimization was carried on under the assumptions that the impurity content after sodium flowing through mesh one time had to meet the purifying requirement, the impurity separation was uniform in the whole mesh area and the mesh consumption was minimum. Problem was solved by using Pontryagin's minimum principle for the cold trap with uniform temperature distribution and was analysed qualitatively for that with nonuniform temperature distribution. Results show that the mesh can be arranged uniformly for the cold trap with uniform temperature distribution in order to get uniform separation of impurity and to prolong working life of mesh.
