A one-dimensional, unsteady-state mathematical model is employed for predicting heat transfer in a vertical steam-generator tube with microrough heated surface. The change in the structure of dispersed-annular flow under unsteady conditions, occurring as the inlet flowrate decreases prior to the boiling crisis, is investigated. The corresponding flow conditions on smooth and microrough heated walls are compared.

A partially nonequilibrium mathematical model for investigating heat and mass transfer in channels with axially flowwashed bundles of heated rods is described. The feasibility of employing empirical relationships for calculating the boiling crisis in rod bundles is explored. The predictions are compared with experimental results.

The concept of analytic selection of noise of operating parameters and practical methods of analyzing them for diagnosing the margin and investigating the limits of low-frequency thermohydraulic instability of power-plant components with consideration of actual operating conditions is suggested.
