The drawing process was simulated on the wear machine of disc-fiber type in order to optimize formulations of water-based lubricating compositions. The data obtained from model tests (friction coefficient, contact load, temperature regime) appeared helpful in calculating technological parameters of the drawing process by using, as computer program algorithm, Gubkin's formula of determining pressure on the drawer's wall. The field tests were performed on a drawing mill 160/15; copper wire was drawn in 24 steps from a diameter of 10 to 0.5 and 0.56 mm across with the rate of 25.5 m/s. Aqueous emulsions crosslinked by liothropic solutions of liquid crystal materials in mineral oil do not separate and are not overheated (T=60-65°C). This ensures an intensive technological regime and high quality surface free of scratches, waves or impurities.
