The different characteristics of pavement structure layer has been found that it can be directly reflected by FWD (falling weight deflectometer) deflection basin. However, the existing back-calculation method for the pavement modulus is regarded as complex, highly specialized approaches, hence, it is mainly used for the scientific research and design. In this paper, an approximate calculation model of pavement modulus is proposed for engineering by using Bousinesq formula which is based on elastic half-space theory, in addition, the measuring center displacement is checked by Odemark's consecutive three-layer system, the result shows that it is in accordance with the measured deflection. It means that the approximate calculation for the pavement modulus is simple and available, especially in the use of pavement evaluation.

In this paper, FWD(Falling Weight Deflectmeter) load stress distribution coefficient is used to calculate the modulus of pavement structure course as the initial value of modulus, the deflection value of the modulus of the derivative matrix is established. Based on the traditional iterative method, the initial value of the modulus being constantly modified to get modulus of pavement structure course, a new form of modified iterative method to identify the pavement elastic modulus is developed. It has been proved by practice that this method can converge to a solution quickly, accurately and stability. It may be an ideal tool to analyze measured deflection bowl data with FWD for highway manager department.

Current industry standard "Highway Performance Assessment Standards" in china is proposed to investigate and evaluate the highway pavement quality, including each individual index of pavement performance and its comprehensive evaluation method. However, this comprehensive evaluation method is ineffective in certain particular conditions. In this paper, a new comprehensive evaluation method is presented by using a penalty function to calculate the weight of each individual index. The weighted geometrical mean is used to formulate the comprehensive evaluation index of pavement performance. The numerical example shows that the proposed method is more effective than the corresponding method proposed in "Highway Performance Assessment Standards". It can be applied in engineering to associate management the highway pavement.

... layer stiffness and its thickness) can produce similar responses in terms of computed deflections. For this reason, it is common to look for either the values of the elasticity modulus of the model [14,16] or their thickness. [17] By a decoupling of the model parameters into known a priori and sought quantities another important sources of inaccurate identification arise. ...

... These parameters can be determined using an empirical equation by an approximate method (Goktepe et al. 2006). Odemark's surface centre deflection formula of the constitutive three-layer system suggested by Wang et al. (2010) is shown in Equation (9). Further, the Approximate modulus of various structural layers is estimated by using the transformed equation as shown in Equation (10) (Wang et al. 2010). ...
