... 21 The prevalence of anemia after initiation of HAART was 11.4%, which was in line with the study conducted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (10.4%) 20 but lower than the study done in northwest Ethiopia (18.9%) 15 and Nigeria (54.2%). 22 WHO clinical stage difference, geographic difference, age variation of the study participants, the cut-off value applied, parasitic infection, and nutritional pattern might be the causes for the disparity among the studies.
