Chinese Semiotic Studies
The Intertextual nature of texts has drawn little attention from linguists, though its important role in determining the production and interpretation of texts has long been recognized by literary critics. An intertextual approach to text study has been an attempt to break up the unquestioned organism of text and to promote the idea that any text may be multi-levelled and resistant to unification. " Intertextuality" is a very complicated concept and the intertextual approach to the study of text has been facing lots of difficulties and problems in its implementation. This paper suggests a critical perspective to this approach from which we may hopefully overcome some of the difficulties and achieve some satisfactory results in non-literary text analysis.
