Xiao-Mei Chang’s scientific contributions

This article clarifies the connotation of intercultural communicative competence and the difference between communicative competence and intercultural communicative competence. Based on the data collected from the questionnaire, the study investigated the current situation of English majors' intercultural communicative competence and discussed the problems in developing the learners' intercultural communicative competence. The article also offers some suggestions on the new aim of foreign language teaching and cultural teaching methodology, etc.
