The acceptance of Christianity by the ruling classes in tenth-century Russia caused the occurrence of contra-acculturative movements of a religious nature which lasted for at least two centuries. This report explores the characteristics and results of such movements, and of the leaders of such movements. This series of historical occurrences is examined from an anthropological perspective.
