This literature review explores the impact of character education in English Language Teaching (ELT) on mitigating school harassment. Addressing a gap in understanding its role, the study uses qualitative analysis to identify strategies such as integrating social skills, multicultural perspectives, and active student participation. Results highlight teachers' roles in fostering respect and honesty, while multicultural approaches combat stereotypes and promote diversity acceptance. Practical implications emphasize collaborative efforts among teachers, students, and parents, using methods like role-playing and discussions to ensure a safe, inclusive educational environment. This study underscores character education's importance in creating a positive school culture.

This training aims to provide discourse for teachers to gain the knowledge and skills needed to integrate Podcasts as an effective and interactive learning media for Speaking. Podcasts have also been shown to improve students' speaking skills. There were 40 teachers as respondents in this training. This study is a quantitative descriptive study where the data was obtained through a questionnaire. The study showed that 83% of the teachers agreed that this training boosts their enthusiasm to try new things in learning. 70% of the participants felt that this training was beneficial because it gave them practical knowledge and skills that could be directly applied in the classroom. And 63% of the teachers agreed that Podcasts could help improve students' speaking skills. This study has implications for providing new knowledge and insights regarding interactive and innovative teaching Speaking for teachers. For students, this study has implications for providing an alternative to improve speaking and listening skills with a fun and up-to-date method. This study also provides implications for policymakers regarding the importance of continuous technology training for teachers to improve their professionalism and insight into effective and interactive English teaching.

General Background: Effective learning media are crucial for enhancing language acquisition among elementary school students. Specific Background: Traditional teaching methods may not adequately engage students, highlighting the need for innovative approaches that foster interactive learning environments. Knowledge Gap: There is a lack of research on the application of three-dimensional teaching tools, such as dioramas, in vocabulary acquisition for English language learners. Aims: This study aims to develop a diorama as an interactive medium to teach house-related vocabulary in English to elementary school students. Results: The diorama features a visually appealing three-dimensional design and incorporates vocabulary targets identified by numbered sections. It employs velcro or fabric adhesive to facilitate the removal and placement of vocabulary terms, allowing students to match words with corresponding parts of the diorama. Novelty: This approach combines tactile and visual learning strategies, enhancing students' engagement and motivation in learning English vocabulary. Implications: The implementation of the diorama as a learning tool can significantly improve students' understanding of vocabulary, making it easier for them to connect words with their meanings through interactive activities in reading and speaking exercises. This innovative resource offers educators a novel method to enhance language learning in a classroom setting. Sidoarjo memiliki berbagai karya seni dan budaya peninggalan Kerajaan Kahuripan Airlangga. Namun, belum dapat secara maksimal menunjukkan karakter budaya khas Sidoarjo karena kurangnya pengenalan dan sosialisasi hasil karya seni budaya lokal kepada masyarakat luas. Mitra Dewan Kesenian Sidoarjo menghadapi masalah karena belum bisa memanfaatkan platform media sosial dan website secara optimal untuk mempromosikan seni budaya Sidoarjo. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan solusi kepada Dewan Kesenian Sidoarjo dalam mengoptimalkan penggunaan teknologi informasi berupa TikTok, Instagram, dan situs web. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 10 pengurus inti Dewan Kesenian Sidoarjo. Kegiatan yang dilakukan mencakup materi pengenalan serta praktik mengunggah konten di TikTok, Instagram, dan website. Hasil dari kegiatan pendampingan, peserta berhasil menggunakan media sosial TikTok, Instagram, dan situs web sebagai sarana promosi kegiatan seni dan budaya di Sidoarjo. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi informasi, kegiatan seni dan budaya Sidoarjo dapat lebih dikenal oleh masyarakat, sehingga masyarakat dapat berpartisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan budaya. Penting untuk terus memelihara dan meningkatkan hasil dari program ini agar berkelanjutan, termasuk pemeliharaan situs web atau aplikasi, penyediaan pelatihan berkala, dan peningkatan konten promosi.


Flouting Conversational Maxims by Connor Watts in Skiptrace

Background conversational maxims play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication and understanding in dialogue. Specific background the phenomenon of flouting these maxims, particularly in film narratives, provides insight into character motivations and interpersonal dynamics. Knowledge gap however, limited research has specifically addressed the instances of maxim flouting by characters in cinematic contexts, particularly in the action-comedy genre, such as in the film Skiptrace. Aims this study aims to analyze the utterances of Connor Watts, a gambler in Skiptrace, focusing on the flouting of conversational maxims and the resulting implicatures. Results the analysis revealed 16 instances of maxim flouting, categorized into four types based on Grice's cooperative principle: quantity, quality, relation, and manner. Novelty this study contributes new insights into the pragmatic functions of flouting maxims in cinematic dialogue, highlighting the nuanced use of language by characters. Implications understanding how Connor Watts employs these conversational strategies not only enhances comprehension of character interactions but also enriches the analysis of communicative practices in film, offering valuable implications for future studies in pragmatics and film discourse. TRANSFORMING LITERARRY TEXTS: A MULTILITERACIES APPROACH TO ENGAGING DIGITAL NARRATIVES

Combining technology with literary texts may help solve the obstacles faced in modern education. Digital storytelling (DST) is an engaging approach that involves students with literature, developing creativity, cultural knowledge, and character development, while creating a dynamic classroom atmosphere. This research investigated how the lecturer use multiliteracies pedagogy to facilitate students in transforming literary text into a DST and their responses to this process. The researchers used purposive sampling and performed a qualitative case study to get detailed insights into how multiliteracies instruction transforms literary text into digital storytelling among 25 ELT students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The results showed that the DST task promotes students’ active involvement with texts. They scrutinised the components of the narrative and converted the text into a digital story. The stages of multiliteracies teaching had a good influence on students’ learning experiences, improved their comprehension of literary content, and encouraged them to combine literature and technology. Ultimately, multiliteracies teaching may transform passive learning into active engagement and foster students’ creativity, cultural proficiency, and multimodal literacy abilities.

p style="text-align:justify">Multicultural education is expected to improve the frameworks of educational institutions so that students from various ethnic, racial, cultural, and linguistic groups have equal academic accomplishment possibilities. It is essential for English as a foreign language (EFL) learners and teachers in Indonesia since English has its own culture. This research aims to comprehend the practices of multiliteracies in incorporating multicultural education in extensive reading classes. This investigation used a qualitative case study using observation and in-depth interviews to collect data from the lecturer. The results showed that the lecturer incorporated all aspects of multicultural education in multiliteracies practices using a novel. While generating cultural value from students’ life experiences, the researchers discovered content integration, knowledge scaffolding, equity pedagogy, bias degradation, and empowerment of school culture. Multiliteracies practices can serve as an innovative teaching technique to promote multicultural education. Additionally, EFL lecturers need multicultural learning materials to support this and to encourage students to think critically.</p

General Background: The phenomenon of code switching and code mixing in bilingual education contexts has garnered attention for its role in facilitating communication and comprehension. Specific Background: While the use of these linguistic strategies is acknowledged in language teaching, there is limited research focusing specifically on their application by teachers during English language instruction. Knowledge Gap: Existing studies often overlook the practical implications of code switching and mixing in the classroom setting, particularly regarding teachers' motivations and the types employed. Aims: This study aims to analyze the implementation of code switching and code mixing by teachers in English learning environments and to understand the underlying reasons for their usage. Results: Employing a qualitative research method, data were collected through direct classroom observations and interviews with a teacher. The findings reveal that teachers utilized all recognized types of code switching and mixing, primarily to enhance student understanding of the material and to ensure the achievement of learning objectives. Novelty: This research contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the strategies employed by teachers in real classroom settings. Implications: The insights gained from this study underscore the significance of code switching and mixing as effective pedagogical tools, suggesting that educators can leverage these strategies to improve student comprehension and engagement in English language learning.
