A study was conducted in the breeding tract of Red Kandhari cattle in Marathwada region comprising Latur, Parbhani and Nanded district to document the morphometric characteristic to know the present status of the breed. Total 535young Red Kandhari cattle were selected morphometric measurements were recorded by using measuring tape while physical characteristic were recorded visually. The overall LSQ means at 0-3 months of Red Kandhari for chest girth, abdominal girth, body length, height at wither, height at elbow, height at hip bone, height at pin bone, length of ear, width of ear, length of face, width of fore head, length of neck, width between hook bone, width between pin bone, tail length and body weight were 70.56 ± 0.66, 72.27 ± 0.78, 64.06 ± 0.69, 69.00 ± 0.63, 42.93 ± 0.37, 69.44 ± 0.66, 65.13 ± 0.63, 13.66 ± 0.21, 7.54 ± 0.07, 23.21 ± 0.32, 11.25 ± 0.18, 25.02 ± 0.26 , 15.71 ± 0.16 , 9.08 ± 0.15, 41.66 ± 0.44 cm and 30.06 ± 0.83 kg and at 4-12 months of age were 116.21 ± 0.73, 122.86 ± 0.77, 99.89 ± 0.51, 102.32 ± 0.43, 60.49 ± 0.59, 103.71 ± 0.44, 97.51 ± 0.38, 18.38 ± 0.16, 10.28 ± 0.24, 35.55 ± 0.24, 18.11 ± 0.08, 38.50 ± 0.13, 26.43 ± 0.22, 14.83 ± 0.18, 60.90 ± 0.39 cm and 127.93 ± 2.42 kg, respectively. Majority of the Red Kandhari cattle have Brick Red coat color followed by Dark Red. The sex showed highly significant (P Lass Than 0.01) to significant (p Lass Than 0.05) effect on most of the traits for both the age group whereas district doesn’t play any major role on these traits. The significant to highly significant effect of sex on some of body measurements and non-significant effect of district in all traits may lead to the concrete conclusion that these factors play a major role in exhibiting the specific body measurements only in Red Kandhari cattle at 4-12 and 0-3 months of age.

The present study was carried out from the data obtained on the reproduction performance of 95 Tharparkar cattle over the period 1995-2014. The overall least squares mean and standard error for age at first calving, service period, gestation period, dry period and intercalving period were 1769.07± 29.80, 117.53± 2.39, 281.62± 0.37, 105.03 ± 2.09 and 399.97 ± 2.44 days, respectively. The Least Squares Analysis of Variance has revealed that there was a significant effect of sire ( P>0.01) and period (P>0.05) on age at first calving and the service period is significantly influenced by period and parity of the animal .Similarly the gestation period was affected by parity, dry period was affected by period of study and inter calving period was substantially influenced by period and parity of the animal. The observed correlation coefficients among different reproductive traits were significant to highly significant where as the estimates of heritability for the same traits were low to moderate. The significant effect of several non-genetic factors on most of the reproductive traits suggesting that they are low heritable and cannot be improved by conventional selection methods but can only be improved through effective management practices, nutrition, health etc..

A study was conducted to estimate the draft performance and to aware farmer for working efficiency of Red Kandhari bullocks. Carting trials were carried out with pneumatic (C1) and iron cart (C2), on field (R1), kaccha (R2) and tar road (R3) with load of L1 (1000kg), L2 (750kg) and L3 (500 kg). The draft generated by bullock with combination of C2, L1 and R1 has given the highest draft of 141.18 kg, where as the combination of C1, L3 and R3 has given the lowest draft of 25.63 kg. combination of C1, L3 and R3 has given the highest speed of 5.66 km/hr, whereas; the combination of C2, L1 and R1 has given the lowest speed of 2.32 km/hr. Combination of C2, L1 and R1 has given the highest horse power of 1.21, whereas; the combination of C1, L3 and R3 has given the lowest horse power of 0.53. The overall performance of Red Kandhari bullock with pneumatic carts showed significant differences (P

Experiment was conducted on 100 Gir cows of different parity and stage of lactation maintained at Ashti Dairy Farm, Ashti taluka Partur, district Jalna of Maharashtra state. The present experiment was carried out to know the effect of parities and stage of lactation on milk parameters viz; WeeklyMilk Yield (WMY), WeeklyFat CorrectedMilk Yield (WFCMY), Fatand Solid Not Fat (SNF) percent and correlation between Body Condition Score (BCS), Body Weight (BW) and body measurements viz; height at wither, height at hook, heart girth and body length with milk parameters. The Least Squares Analysis of Variance has revealed significant effect of parity on the WMY, WFCMY and Fat percentage whereas, significant effect of stages of lactation on the WMY and WFCMY of Gir cows. The positive to negative significant correlation coefficients of body condition score with WMY (0.110); Height at wither with WMY (0.131) and Fat percent (-0.156); Hearth girth with WMY (0.125) and Fat percent (-0.155) and Body length with Fat percent (-0.139) respectively.

... In addition, Al-Samarai et al. (2013) observed low heritability estimates for NL (0.02) and TLMY (0.10) traits in Holstein cows. The heritability estimate for ASP (0.154) in Vrindavani cattle was in near concordance with that reported by earlier in Tharparkar cattle populations (Mishra et al. 2017). Kumar et al. (2016) also documented comparable heritability estimate for ASP (0.16) in Ongole cattle of India. ...
