Many studies tend to apply categories of gender and sexuality to indigenous peoples in the same way as they are used in the West. This ignores the fact that indigenous peoples have their own notions of people, which are often at odds with Western binary standards. The issue at stake in this article is the inclusion of the analytical categories of gender and sexuality in South American communities, starting with the Jesuit Missions that spread across present-day Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay during the 17th and 18th centuries. To this end, it uses as historical sources a set of 1212 Jesuit writings, including manuscripts and books, as well as architectural, sculptural, and pictorial remains. Using techniques specific to paleography to read manuscripts, the project’s methodology makes use of ethnohistory guided by Content Analysis, thus producing a reading that starts from contemporary indigenous problems in order to build an Indigenous History. The study’s discussion considers that indigenous bodies, once produced by village collectives made up of extended families, were forged in the Jesuit missions according to the parameters of the colonial project. The article therefore demonstrates the genealogy of the bodies of indigenous men, indigenous women, and abject indigenous people, concluding that the current scenario of gender and sexual violence in South America has its origins in the colonial process, and not in indigenous cultures.

Viviane Conceição Rodrigues is an important Brazilian organic intellectual. Born in 1982 on the outskirts of Maceió, it became part of a series of networked cultural articulations and was fundamental element in the founding of the Peripheral Culture Museum, one of the 12 Memory Spots Pioneers, headquartered in the Jacintinho neighborhood. An award-winning Afro-entrepreneur, she has a degree in Public Relations from the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL, 2008) and Master from the Universidad Pablo de Olavid (2020), in Spain. His personal trajectory mixes with the trajectory of Brazilian comunity museums, spreading out in territories far beyond the geographic, having participated in the constitution of a set of public policies for the field of Museology in Brazil. In an interview granted to us, generous, affectionate and patient, shared fundamental aspects for thinking Sociomuseology through the hands of those who live on the border between academia and social militancy, in a constant flux between putting into practice in favor of the community the most complex popular and scientific reflections in a way connected.

Resumo: Aborda-se aqui o passado das Missões Indígeno-Jesuíticas do Paraguai colonial a partir dos estudos sobre gênero e masculinidades. Em especial, concentra-se nas tensões entre categorias indígenas, como a maestria, e noções de masculinidades, durante a estruturação do projeto missional. Em um primeiro momento, acompanha-se o arco narrativo do cacique Guiraverá, um chefe-mestre a se redimensionar durante a fundação da missão de Jesus Maria, para em seguida, problematizar os limites da materialidade da masculinidade missional perante outros corpos ali também produzidos. Reserva-se à introdução a apresentação dos problemas e bases teóricas do projeto Entre o Arco e o Cesto, bem como às considerações finais, possíveis interpretações e limites surgidos ao longo da pesquisa.

Apresentação do Dossiê Museus e Museologia LGBT+

Com objetivo de gerar subsídios teóricos e metodológicos à formação museológica interessada na superação da LGBTfobia interseccionada, este artigo apresenta o Museu Transgênero de História da Arte e Ponto de Memória Aquenda as Indacas, duas iniciativas a expressar a categoria de Museologia Comunitária LGBT+.

Este artigo apresenta o mapeamento realizado pelo Grupo de Pesquisa Museologia e Sexualidades (MusaSex) sobre as estratégias de ensino, pesquisa e extensão em museus e Museologia LGBT+ interseccional na formação museológica (graduação e pós-graduação). Tal mapeamento procura subsidiar, de modo voluntário, o conjunto de recomendações que o Fórum de Graduação da Rede de Professores e Pesquisadores de Museologia está a produzir para os cursos de bacharelado em Museologia brasileiros. Propõe, portanto, uma formação museológica dialógica, libertadora e decolonial Queer interessada no enfrentamento da LGBTfobia e no respeito a identidades de gênero e orientações sexuais dissidentes da matriz branca-cisheterossexual vigente nos museus e na Museologia.

À partir d’un certain nombre d’interrogations survenues à l’occasion du décès de Giuseppe Campuzano, fondateur du Musée Travesti du Pérou, la présente étude cherche à problématiser l’absence de débat muséologique sur la question LGBT (lesbiennes, gays, bisexuels et transsexuels). Dans cette optique, elle procède à l’inventaire d’un certain nombre d’expériences muséologiques consacrées à la thématique de l’identité de genre en Occident, en Amérique latine et au Brésil. L’objectif est de réaliser une synthèse des thèmes et des expériences muséales s’appliquant à surmonter l’extermination de la population LGBT et son invisibilité. Sur la base des données présentées, on tentera de définir les caractéristiques d’une muséologie dans laquelle le protagonisme LGBT puisse apporter sa contribution au processus de démocratisation entrepris par la muséologie sociale.

This article will present the actions involving the themes of gender and sexual dissent developed by the Museu das Bandeiras between 2018 and 2020. The referred museum, starts to prioritize such themes from a new management, where the referred author is the direct of the institution. Thus, for two years, strategic actions were intensified that aimed at making women and LGBT people visible. It is noteworthy that the Museum of Flags, is located in an inland city located 200 km from the capital. The City of Goiás is known for the poems of Cora Coralina, in addition to its title of historical heritage of humanity and well-preserved houses and churches. In this article, we will use the concept of LGBT Museology, aiming to present in practice the activities developed in this institution that can be worked on in other conventional museums. As a methodology, a mapping of the actions carried out and the museum plan of the Museu das Bandeiras was carried out, which was divided into three phases; a) institutionalization; b) training and research; c) Dissemination actions based on the demands of the local community. To this end, the actions could only be carried out with the collaboration of the team and the local community that supported and stimulated the development of this project.
