The main objective of the study was to explore the suicidal ideation among employed and unemployed persons. Total 150 participants were selected from the three different cities Haripur, Abbottabad and Mansehra of Hazara Division, through convenient sampling. The translated version of Beck Scale for Suicidal Ideation was used for data collection. The results revealed that there is a significant difference (t=3.97) between suicidal ideation of employed and unemployed individuals. Study offers various further directions to explore many related factors of suicidal ideation.

Marital adjustment of educated working and educated non working women as a factor of communication style with their spouses

Present study aimed at to explore the relationship between marital adjustment and style of mutual communication amongst the couples. Survey technique was employed for data collection. Two sub-scales 'General Pattern of Adjustment' and 'Communication' of Marital Adjustment Scale-Urdu (MAS-U) (Kazmi & Pervez, 2002) was used personally by the researcher in face to face fashion to collect the data. Convenient sample of 200 married women was taken from Abbottabad (KPK) Pakistan. It was hypothesized that; (1) better communication leads towards marital harmony and (2) the general pattern of marital adjustment is associated with mutual positive communication style. The results reveal that significant positive association exists between the general pattern of adjustment and mutual communication style of the couples (r =0.25; df =198; p<0.01). Study offers various further directions to explore the issue of marital adjustment.


Attitude of University Students towards Ethnic Prejudice

The investigation was aimed to explore the attitude of university students toward ethnic prejudice. The precipitating event of the study was the renaming of ex-NWFP as KPK, which infused new spirit in the dormant movement of "Hazara province". Convenience sample of 200 students was drawn from different departments of Hazara University Mansehra, Comsat University Abbottabad, Women Medical College Abbottabad and Sarhad University Abbottabad. Sample consisted of 100 Pathans (50 males and 50 females) and 100 Hazarawals (50 males and 50 females). Blatant and Subtle prejudice Scale( Coryn, Beale & Myers, 2004) was adapted and employed to collect the data. Results revealed that high level of ethnic prejudice was present between the both groups as both secured below cut of point (70) but Mean value of Hazarawal (55.99) was less than Mean value of Pathan (59.79) which revealed Hazarawals were highly prejudice towards Pathans because they were remained deprived of their identity for over 60 years and issue of renaming hurt them badly.


The relationship between the manifested aggression of parents and their daughters

The investigation aimed to measure relationship between the parental aggression and their daughters aggression. Purposive sample of 220 participants (parents =110, daughters = 110) was used for study. Survey technique was employed to collect the data on indigenously designed aggression questionnaire. Results indicate highly significant positive correlation between both parents and daughters aggression. Study concluded that both parents exercised verbal and physical aggression.


Prevalence of Psychological problems among the people of district Manserha Khyber PakhtunKhwa (KPK) Pakistan

The study focuses on psychological problems and preference of choices for the treatment among the people of district Mansehra. Quota sampling was used for data collection. Total 812 households were selected from the three Tehsils of district Manserha. After door to door survey 201 cases were identified with the help of indigenously designed questionnaire. Results indicate that prevalence of neurotic complaints i.e., hysteria, anxiety, phobia and OCD is 21.1 % among the people within the population. Significant difference was not found with reference to gender. The results are similar to what is often believed and the pattern has been seen with in national and international studies. The age of 21-25 years in both males and females is the high risk period. The treatment choices with reference to the priority of consultation are; doctors/ physicians, household remedies, Hakims, Peer Fakirs (Saints).

Present study aims at to analyze the socio economic and cultural perspective of terrorism in Pakistan with specific reference to the institution of madrassa. The role of madrassas was transformed into hub of terrorism and militancy by global players. How these innocent were exploited and transformed in to terrorist? As a result, the whole world has developed specific hate and anger towards this pity generation. The rise and fall of these militants groups is a very complex psycho-social phenomenon, which needs deliberate and committed efforts to explore by the Pakistani social scientists. The study is an Endeavour to dilate this phenomenon, that how the simple fundamentalist but deprived youth was transformed in to lethal warriors/terrorists. The dynamics of Militants is associated with their strong faith, and fundamentalist attitude, as well as accumulated frustration, present in their archetype. NGOs and the Govt organizations are needed to search effective stance and viable options to eliminate militancy and the probable breeding spaces from the civil society.



In-service teacher training in Pakistani schools and total quality management (TQM)

The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of in-service teacher training on total quality management. Population consisted of all the private sector schools. Stratified random sample of 300 students was drawn from the two types of school i.e. the schools with in-service teacher training and the schools without in-service training. An indigenously designed questionnaire, consisting of forty five questions was used for data collection. To test the hypothesis t-test was used. The study concludes that: the teachers with in-service training have good effect on total quality management as compared to the teachers without training. No significant difference was found for variables such as teachers' biasness, active learning environment and class discipline. Study offers many new dimensions in the quality education in the present day competitive world. It give a new vision to initiate a national vide plan for teacher training which will provide the students required development as well as standard academic achievement.

The role of parents, especially father has been considered very important for children's grooming, development and learning. Present study, was conducted to explore and evaluate the impact of father's style of dealing with their children at home and their academic achievements at school. Classroom achievement of the children has been taken as a dependent variable. The sample of the study consisted of 300 students, 300 fathers and 20 teachers which was drawn randomly from urban and rural areas of district Mansehra province Khyber Pakhtun khwa (KPK). The indigenously designed questionnaire was used to collect the data. Chi square test and ANOVA were applied to assess the significance of the results. The results of this study were found in the favor of the fathers' involvement for the academic achievements
