[11] Many studies have demonstrated that patients presenting with STEMI who are SMuRF-less have higher mortality and may have worse clinical outcomes when compared to patients with at least one SMuRF. [7,8,10,[12][13][14][15] In a study of the Swedish myocardial infarction registry (SWEDEHEART), SMuRF-less patients had significantly higher all-cause mortality (hazard ratio 1⋅47 [95 % CI 1⋅37-1⋅57], p < 0⋅0001) with women being disproportionately affected when compared to patients with at least one SMuRF.
