Since the formulation of public sociology , it has received widespread attention among sociologists and it has been widely contested (Nielsen, 2004;Aronowitz, 2005;Brint, 2005;Calhoun, 2005;Kalleberg, 2012;Tittle, 2004;Turner, 2005;Holmwood, 2007).
