Several studies have pointed out that soil fertility levels of tropical homegardens are sustained through efficient organic matter and nutrient cycling between diverse plants and soils and their recycling through daily input of waste such as garbage ash and manure (Torquebiau 1992;Nair 2001;Kumar and Nair 2004).
