Evaluating generated comments is fundamentally important for industrial applications, where the quality of the output determines whether an automated tool is ready to be used on production codebases. Manual human evaluation of large numbers of comments is costly, but evaluation must be performed on each new system (even on mainstream languages, the quality and reliability of generated documentation can vary dramatically across codebases [18], [20]).
