This work aims to characterize the transportation systems that run through all the Brazil's territory, including some possible consequences influenced by the actual scenery as well as future improvement plans. The means of transport are major points in a country's infrastructure and economic development, so it is important to analyze its methods and obstacles for further interventions. In the first part is briefly reviewed the history of the transport's creation and the main causes to the current model. There is then a description of how it is the highways in Brazil, the major transportation modal, along with information on other types, such as trains, airplanes, ships and pipelines. In addition, brief descriptions of the urban transport of the major cities are made and, finally, some consequences and conclusions correlated. The reaching conclusion is that it is extremely necessary to invest more in the transportation system, providing maintenance of the highways, restoring the railways and especially improvements of waterways. In this way, the transport matrix will be better suited to the country's needs.
