... In terms of methodology, our study is closest in spirit to Juselius et al. (2014), who fit an atheoretical cointegrated VAR model for 36 individual African economies and find evidence supporting aid-driven growth in Africa. In terms of policy context, our study belongs to the voluminous amount of literature on aid effectiveness too (e.g., Doucouliagos & Paldam, 2009;Mekasha & Tarp, 2013;Minoiu & Reddy, 2010;Pedersen, 2001;Rajan & Subramanian, 2008;Roodman, 2007), which to date, remains pretty contentious. This being said, our findings do lend some optimisms that are similar to the consensus in the ever-growing aid-for-trade literature (Benziane et al., 2022;De Lombaerde & Mavrotas, 2009;Vijil, 2014). ...
