DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) is one of the most leading journals of the LIS field and it is published by DESIDOC. It has recently finished very nearly 39 years of its publication. The main objective of this study is to cover various aspects of the journal through Bibliometric analysis. This paper presents a Bibliometric analysis of DJLIT during 1981-2018. During the period of 1981-2018, total 990 full-length articles were published in a particular journal. This study cover various parameters like distribution of full-length articles on yearly basis, category wise classification of the articles, authorship pattern of the articles, degree of author’s collaboration, length of articles, the ranking of authors, etc. As a result, the degree of collaboration in the DESIDOC Journal is 0.74, which clearly indicates the dominance of multiple authors in its contributions.

New technology may call for organizational change in the traditional library. Librarians may have to function more like consulting information engineers than as the traditional, passive custodians of information and dispensers of documents, moving from a collection-centered model to one that is access-and service-oriented. Ranganathan"s fifth law of library science tells us about the ever-growing nature of libraries 1. In the present era computer and internet plays an important role for the dynamic functioning of information technology. The growth of internet technology is directly linked with the development of life and society. Now a day we find internet and www is more essential and useful resource of IT in every sphere of life. The awareness about global phenomenon plays a vital role in shaping the development of industrial level as well as national level. Behind the process of current awareness there is one most powerful definite force-Technology. The post war ii period has acquired rapid development in the field of information technology. The term IT refers to microelectronic based information of computing and telecommunication to manage the acquisition, processing and storage of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information. The various techniques of data processing and telecommunication has given rise to IT. The main objective of the study is to discover the competencies and challenges for information professionals in evolving of digital information services to user community in BBAU, Lucknow. PRELUDE The application of information technology in libraries outcome in increased operational efficiency. The IT increases productivity of library staff. It relieves professional staff from mundane jobs that involves a lot of duplication so that they can be fruitfully used for user-oriented library services. It improves quality of services rendered by the library. Use of information technology ensures ease of functioning, accuracy and economy in human labour with greater speed. The exponential growth of information has made manual system redundant giving way to computerized information storage and retrieval tools. Effective and efficient handling of huge quantum of information is only possible by using computers, which have the added advantage of being highly accurate and efficient that adds value to information. Moreover, the technology also helps in rendering services that were hitherto not possible using traditional means. The new information technology facilitates improved management of physical and financial resources. The advances in technology and its availability at lower cost have also raised users' expectations from librarians and libraries. The new information technology, on the one hand, facilitates wider access to information for library users; on the other hand, it facilitates wider dissemination of information products and services generated by the library. The availability of networks facilitates resource sharing and high-speed communication with other libraries.
