The Coulomb broadening is defined by the velocity change due to the diffusion during level lifetime. Laser upper levels 4p of ArII with lifetime about 5 nsec led to the broadening by factor 3-4. The unstable region of the convex-concave argon laser resonator is studied. Beam profiles have annular concentric parts with different divergences and show unusual behavior, as does the output power. The effect is attributed to waveguide properties of the discharge tube.
