A semantic model for computer aided production management is proposed based on classes, linkages and aggregation notions. The model makes it possible to keep specific information for each production system, to link different production domains without loss of information, and provides different views of the same entities. The model is compared with the relational model, entity association model and object model. A database management system with a graphical interface for the creation and modification of a production database model is described. (A.P.)
