... The MPMs was the most used (83.13%) with respect to the other methods. The first structured demographic model that we recorded was a reconstruction of a MPM of Carnegiea gigantea with data from the 1970's (Silvertown et al., 1992;Steenbergh and Lowe 1977), but the first original MPM we found in the literature was applied nearly two decades later by Schmalzel et al. (1995), who studied Pelecyphora robbinsorum. The life table method (LT) was only used in three publications for study the species Mammillaria magnimamma (Quijas Fonseca, 1999), Cephalocereus macrocephalus (Vilchis Anaya, 2000) and Lophophora williamsii (García Naranjo Ortiz de la Huerta, 2004) and documented them in grey literature publications. ...
