BACKGROUND The rapid proliferation of wellness misinformation on social media is a critical public health issue that significantly influences health behaviors and perceptions. Despite the vast amount of health information available, there is a significant gap in understanding how misinformation spreads and its impact on the public. OBJECTIVE This systematic review aims to address the gap by analyzing the mechanisms of wellness misinformation dissemination and its counteraction using Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) as a framework. METHODS The review included 39 articles to explore the dissemination and counteraction of wellness misinformation. It focused on the role of observational learning, self-efficacy, and self-regulation in the spread and reception of misinformation. RESULTS The findings indicate that observational learning, self-efficacy, and self-regulation are key factors in the spread and reception of wellness misinformation. The study also found that educational interventions, regulatory actions, and technology-driven solutions are effective in mitigating misinformation. CONCLUSIONS The review underscores the need for integrated strategies to enhance user literacy and foster critical evaluation of health information on social media. These strategies aim to improve public health outcomes and combat misinformation effectively, contributing to both academic and practical fields.

Education as Change

Evolving educational paradigms and cultural expectations present distinct challenges for novice English teachers. This study explores the crucial role of emotional preparedness in novice English teachers, particularly in China, where gaps in understanding and support are evident. Employing a qualitative grounded theory approach, the study identifies key emotional management skills and institutional support factors via in-depth interviews, incorporating a psycho-social framework to explore how emotional regulation and self-awareness are crucial for teacher resilience and effectiveness. The findings underline the importance of personal emotional management skills, such as self-awareness and emotional regulation, alongside institutional support mechanisms, including professional development and peer networks. The research underscores the need for targeted training programmes that enhance personal and organisational support to boost teachers’ emotional resilience. These insights are pivotal for developing interventions that improve novice teachers’ emotional capabilities, promoting a more supportive educational milieu in China.

This research investigates the dual impact of social media on enhancing academic engagement and improving management efficiency. Social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and specialized forums, have transformed communication dynamics in educational and organizational contexts. In academia, social media facilitates interactive learning environments beyond physical classrooms, improving student-teacher interaction and broadening educational outreach. Organizationally, it enhances operational efficiencies, streamlines management processes, and aids in brand visibility and stakeholder engagement. However, challenges such as data privacy, information reliability, and digital overload persist. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with students, faculty, managers, and employees to analyze social media's role in fostering community engagement and enhancing operational effectiveness. The findings suggest substantial benefits in both domains but also highlight the need for strategic integration and careful management to mitigate potential drawbacks.

This study investigates the effects of novel functionalities on user behavior across emerging social media platforms. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study integrates quantitative analysis of engagement metrics with qualitative feedback from user interviews and surveys to assess how augmented reality (AR) filters, ephemeral content, and algorithmic curation influence engagement and content sharing. Results indicate these features significantly enhance user interaction, suggesting that innovation is key to user retention and active participation. Additionally, the study examines the double-edged nature of algorithmic curation, balancing user experience personalization against the risks of creating informational echo chambers. The implications of these findings extend to various stakeholders in the digital ecosystem, including content creators, marketers, technology developers, and policymakers, emphasizing the importance of user-centric innovation and ethical considerations in platform development. This research contributes to the broader understanding of social media evolution and its impact on digital communication practices.

... Social media platforms function as interconnected networks where socialization occurs through information exchange, opinion formation, and collective behavior. Studies reveal that socialization processes are mediated by platform algorithms (Ye & Li, 2024), user demographics (Portugali, 1988), gender (Banaszak, 2022), level of technology (Fuchs, 2005), enhancing social connections , shared symbols of social complexity (Rosenberg & Shimelmitz, 2017) peer politics interaction (1992), personality structure (Kreitler & Kreitler, 2013) and geopolitical contexts (Portugali, 1999).
