In August 1991 a population of the American neophyte Ludwigia natans has been discovered on a secondary Marschland area in the vicinity of Hannover (Lower Saxony); in 1995 the species has not been observed there again. Habitat and plantsociological position of the locality are described. A diagnostic key to the three Ludwigia-species thusfar known from W.C.-Europe (the indigenous L. palustris and the neophytes L. natans and L. uruguayensis) is presented.
