The present work aims to make a cut on the scientific trajectory of special education and specialized educational service from 2000 to 2010, highlighting some of its main scientific contributions. To this end, it focuses on a literature review of books, databases, indexers, libraries and virtual libraries. Thematic groups characterized the results: a) Scientific Production in Special Education; B) Evaluation Studies on Special Education; C) Studies on the Epistemology of Research in Education and Special Education; D) Research on Specialized Educational Services; E) National Inclusion Policy; History of the Person with Disabilities and Special Education and f) Historical-political aspects of Special Education. In this period, thematic diversity and dynamics are evident, evidencing the search for overcoming the medical and disability dimension present historically in special education and specialized educational service. Studies on scientific production contribute to the characterization of research, and above all, they constitute essential aspects for the formation of the historical-scientific identity of the areas of special education and specialized educational service and for the social transformation that comes from them.
