With rapid, 3D CAD data-based prototyping systems, engineers can analyze a structural component's form, fit, and function, thereby obtaining improved design quality, shorter design-life cycles, and lower development costs. Accounts are presently given of prototyping methods employing stereolithography, laminated-object manufacturing, fused-deposition modeling, solid-ground curing, and photosolidification.
