Proper and swift treatment is crucial for cancer patients. The fig plant contains antioxidants that show inhibition of cancer cell proliferation. By converting its particle size into nano, the active compounds are expected to more easily reach the target cells. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of gold nanoparticles with a reducing agent from fig leaf isolate (Ficus carica). The research method used is laboratory experimentation to produce gold nanoparticles with fig leaf extract as the reducing agent, and the antioxidant activity was tested by observing the IC50 value. The results of the study showed that gold nanoparticles from fig leaf extract were successfully created, as evidenced by UV-Vis spectrophotometer testing at a wavelength of 528 nm. The antioxidant test demonstrated that gold nanoparticles from fig leaf extract have greater potential as an antioxidant agent compared to fig leaf extract alone.

Plastic waste continues to be a significant environmental issue due to the extended degradation period it requires. Bioplastics represent an innovation in the conventional plastic cycle, being made from natural materials such as agricultural waste containing cellulose. The objective of this research is to determine the influence of adding cellulose from sugarcane tops in the production of biodegradable plastic. The research method begins with the extraction of cellulose from sugarcane tops, including preparation stages, wax removal, bleaching, hemicellulose removal, and delignification. Sugarcane top cellulose is utilized as a raw material for bioplastic. Cellulose with concentrations of 0%, 10%, 30%, and 50% by weight is processed together with a mixture of water and tapioca, to which chitosan and glycerol are subsequently added. Observation parameters for the bioplastic include functional group characterization and mechanical tests, encompassing transparency, tensile strength, elongation, density, thickness, water absorption, and biodegradability. The research results indicate that the characterization of functional groups using FTIR produces spectra of O-H, C-H, C=C, C-O, indicating the constituent components of cellulose, glycerol, and chitosan. Meanwhile, based on the mechanical tests, the 50% sugarcane top bioplastic is the most favorable, with transparency value of 89% transmittance, tensile strength of 39.2 MPa, elongation percentage of 17.32%, density of 0.8444 g/cm3, thickness of 0.276 mm, water absorption of 98.36%, and biodegradability over 4 days. Based on the mechanical tests, the produced bioplastic holds potential for food packaging material.

Kombucha tea has become an innovative beverage product and popular with the public because it has many health benefits. One of the plant leaf that has the potential as an ingredient for making kombucha tea is vanilla leaf. Fermentation time will affect the alcohol content and active compounds content in vanilla leaf kombucha tea. Fermented beverage products that have an alcohol content of less than 0.5% are legally halal and medically harmless. The purpose of this study was to determine the halal label of vanilla leaf kombucha tea with variations in fermentation time based on alcohol content and chemical characteristics. The alcohol content test for vanilla leaf kombucha tea was carried out by quantitative analysis of the gravimetric method with variations in the 4 treatments including fermentation time of 0, 4, 8, and 12 days. The results of the alcohol content test showed increased results. Vanilla leaf kombucha tea with 0 day fermentation had an alcohol content of 0.12%, 4 days 0.15%, 8 days 0.21%, and 12 days 0.28%. From the results, the alcohol content in vanilla leaf kombucha tea was less than 0.5% and based on the MUI agreement on alcoholic beverages having an alcohol content of less than 0.5%, so the product is declared as a halal fermented drink. The results of the chemical characteristic test showed that there were differences in pH values and titrated total acid levels in kombucha tea. Vanilla leaf kombucha tea which had the best chemical characteristics is vanilla leaf kombucha tea with P2 treatment (4 days of fermentation) with a pH value of 3 and a Tat level of 0.012 and P3 treatment (8 days of fermentation) with a pH value of 3 and a Tat level of 0.024.

One of pollutant that commonly found in aquatic environment is detergent. Detergent pollution can cause skin irritation and other health problems in humans and animals that use contaminated water sources. To address this issue, it is critical to implement effective policies and regulations to control detergent pollution and promote sustainable wastewater management practices in Indonesia. One of the approaches to overcome detergent pollution is to use plants as pollutant absorbing agents, or commonly called phytoremediation techniques. Therefore, this study aims to determine the growth response of spear plant (Sagittaria lancifolia) in response to the stress of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) detergent. This research is an experimental research using a completely randomized design (CRD). There were four treatments tested with three replicates for each treatment. Treatment variations were based on the concentrations used in this study, namely 0 mg/L, 10 mg/L, 30 mg/L, and 50 mg/L. The research was conducted for four months, starting from July to October 2022, and was conducted in the greenhouse of Purwodadi Botanical Garden – BRIN. The result showed that although it experienced some morphological changes such as leaf drying, discoloration, and structural changes, Sagittaria lancifolia were able to survive and conduct metabolic activities properly during 28 days of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonates (LAS) pollutant stress. Thus, Sagittaria lancifolia are able to be used as one of the strategies in restoring the aquatic environment polluted by domestic waste, including LAS detergent.

Ficus carica (fig tree) leaf and fruit has long been observed to significantly affect blood glucose level. Fruit and leaves are known to contain polyphenol compound that plays a role in the glucose level of blood. However, the comparative study of these two extracts is not so much been explored. We investigate the effect of the fruit and leaf of a fig tree on the glucose level of blood. The method used in this experiment is using a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 3 treatments, namely control (aquadest), fig leaf extract, and fig fruit extract. The extract is given orally for 14 days straight to a mouse (Mus musculus) with a dosage equal to 300 mg/kgW/day. These studies show that the blood glucose level of a mouse is lowered to 1,31% for a fig leaf and 1,96% for a fig fruit from a normal level. It can be concluded that a fig tree's leaf and fruit extract can increase the blood glucose level.
