Although the growth and transpiration of grass inevitably consumes partial SWC, the research presented in the paper shows that compared with clean tillage, living grass mulch in apple orchards significantly increases SWC, which is basically consistent with previous research results [74,75], which fully proved that SWC consumption caused by grass growing is less than compensation.
