... Together with synchronous applications and comprehensive systems, they form the first wave of collaborative design applications. In the early works, such asynchronous systems consisted of accounts on remote machines shared by several teams and individuals (Wojtowicz et al (1993)) using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP), file naming conventions and email broadcasts to share the work. Later works introduced hypermedia databases referred to from shared Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) and bulletin systems (Martens et al (1996)) and more structured repositories by e.g. ...

... However, the recorded data still lacks or has a limitation of data connectivity and attribute data of the polygon that is important for reference among each level of data representation. (Faugas and Pegor Papazian Research Affiliates, 1992) For example, a geographical reference between modeling level and presentation level always needs some extra significant information from a database. (De Gunst, Van Oosterom and Van Osch, 2000) The IFC format can be integrated information from the database to the object properties and modify it by changes the database information. ...

... The system we will present below is an implementation of one aspect of a general-purpose modeling shell based on the interaction of different modules. Each module represents what we have called a "metaphor" [Fargas and Papazian, 1992] or a particular way of seeing the environment and a specific interest in developing and transforming the physical model in question. In the case of urban development, one module could represent the perspective of a community group, another module might capture the point of view of a city-hall planner, yet another that of a certain kind of developer, and so on. ...

... Virtual Design Studios (VDS) have evolved from a conceptual idea into a practical reality, reshaping the landscape of design education (Fleischmann, 2021;Khan & Thilagam, 2023;Thakker & Shrivastav, 2022). In this context, the traditional image of a renowned desk critic in Barcelona engaging with a Massachusetts Institute of Technology student via virtual platforms (Mitchell, 1994) is no longer confined to the imagination; it is a growing trend in contemporary education. Yet, skepticism surrounds the efficacy of these virtual interactions. ...
