... Berthelot (1840) probably was the first to mention this species from the archipelago; it was only mentioned in passing from the southern flank of the Goleta (i.e., Anaga) Mountains in Tenerife. This species was not (yet) mentioned in "Histoire naturelle des Iles Canaries" that was published a few years before (Webb and Berthelot 1836). It therefore appears that this reference from 1840 either is an error, or else that Webb and Berthelot discovered this species after 1836. ...
