Through comparing actual projects this paper presents and discusses the effects of curing film and geotextile on temperature of airport pavement concrete during maintaining process. The results show that, compared with the maintenance of geotextile, the curing film can ensure sufficient temperature, and it has very significant uniformity and continuity.

Influence of steel pipe on mechanical properties of airport cement concrete pavement

This paper studies the influence of steel pipe on mechanical properties of airport cement concrete pavement. The flexural and compressive strength of concrete are analysed when different steel pipes are added into ordinary concrete. It is shown that the flexural and compressive strength of ordinary concrete are higher than those of concrete containing steel pipe at the age of 7 and 28 days. The compressive strength of concrete decreases more than the flexural strength when the steel pipe is added into concrete. The flexural strength of concrete containing Φ32 seamless steel pipe, DN32 welded steel pipe and DN40 welded steel pipe can still meet the mechanical properties of airport concrete. Compared with DN32 welded steel pipe and DN40 welded steel pipe, the selection of Φ32 seamless steel pipe is beneficial to the mechanical properties of concrete.

This paper studies the effect of aircraft deicer on deicer-scaling resistance and frost resistance of airport pavement concrete. The mass loss and surface profile of non-air-entrained and air-entrained concrete eroded by water and aircraft deicer are analysed. The surface profile, mass loss rate and relative dynamic elasticity modulus of air-entrained concrete eroded by water and 5% aircraft deicer are discussed during freeze-thaw cycles. It is shown that the low and medium concentration deicer has a negative effect on the deicer-scaling resistance of concrete, and 5% aircraft deicer has the greatest influence. Adding air-entraining agent can improve the deicer-scaling resistance of concrete. Compared with water, 5% aircraft deicer has a negative effect on the frost resistance of air-entrained concrete. The deicer-scaling resistance and frost resistance of air-entrained concrete meet requirements for airport pavement in the most severely cold regions in China.

In this paper, the method of melting ice with carbon fibre heating wire (CFHW) buried in concrete pavement is presented to avoid the adverse effects of snow-melting chemicals. The melting ice effect, pavement temperature and energy distribution are analysed. It is shown that, with the air temperature of -5°C and 0.4 m/s wind speed, the time of melting 6.5 mm thick ice on pavement is 8.17 hours, 5.5 hours, 4.25 hours and 3.33 hours when the heat flux is 300 W/m², 400 W/m², 500 W/m² and 600 W/m², respectively. The pavement temperature can be divided into three stages at the depth of 0.5 cm, including temperature rising process, constant temperature process and rapid temperature increase process. The greater the heat flux, the less the time it takes to melt ice, the lower the total energy needed to melt ice. This work is important for choosing how much heat flux to melt ice.
