The article notes that the problem of organization of professional development of teachers of higher educational institutions is related to the orientation of the higher education in Ukraine towards the European educational standards and is associated with the need for continuous professional development of the teaching staff at the tertiary level. Another factor is the necessity in actual professional reaction to the challenges brought about by the world pandemic and, as a result, digitalization of the basic social spheres and institutions, educational, in particular. The article provides the analysis and implementation of the world experience in organization of the process of educating and further professional development of teachers using contemporary educational online platforms. Based on modern research on the problem and taking into account the socio-economic requirements of the time, the main competences that determine the required level of the professional level of a teacher of the higher educational institution are determined. The article presents the experience of implementing upgrading skills programs for teachers of higher educational institutions using online platforms: trainings, webinars, master classes, participation in academic mobility programs, Master degree training programs which have been piloted at the universities of Kharkiv to develop certain competences.

Educational Challenges

The competitiveness of the professional training of future philologists depends on the opportunities for professional realization, due to the formation of specific competencies, one of which is the competency of teaching activities. The specified factor encourages the creation of students’ conditions to obtain opportunities for professional realization in the practical activity of a teacher in secondary education. The conditions of a prolonged pandemic require the correction of the implementation of any type of educational activity by transferring it to the mode of distance learning which causes the need for students’ special training for pedagogical activities in the conditions of the mixed and distance mode in work of a secondary education. The purpose of the article is to analyze the features of pedagogical internship organization for students of foreign philology in a mixed form of education. The methodology is the analysis of scientific approaches to the definition the concepts "pedagogical practice of future philologists", "distance learning", "information and communication technologies (ICT)"; results’ presentation in the organization of pedagogical practice for philology students; determination of effective means for implementing the practical activities of an English language teacher in the conditions of distance learning which is based on the results of the pedagogical practice for philology students. Results. The pedagogical practice of philology students is aimed at forming the practical skills necessary for teaching a foreign language, in particular in all types of speech activity: speaking, reading, writing, listening. The formation of students' abilities to take into account the peculiarities of the presentation of educational information and the practice of specific foreign language skills for learners in the conditions of distance learning acquires importance. The analysis of the options of several platforms for the implementation of distance learning of a foreign language revealed the greatest effectiveness of the ZOOM program which was confirmed among other things by its selection as a common platform for training by basic colleges in O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv (Ukraine). According to the results of pedagogical practice in the distance learning mode of the basic colleges, the need to correct the program of practices and the content of psychological and pedagogical disciplines and the methodology of teaching a foreign language, taking into account the characteristics of the teacher's activity in the conditions of the distance mode of work with the study group, was determined. In conclusion it should sum up that it is important to focus students on a clear distribution of time for the implementation of all types of speaking activities in a foreign language for students in the classroom and the reflection of these tools at specific stages of a lesson, taking into account the time of assessment and reflection.

The article is devoted to the problem of the mental maps use as the innovative way of the information organization within the higher education process. The analysis of scientific approaches to the theory of radial thinking and the experience of mental maps use in planning, evaluation and educational process has been presented. The effectiveness of mindmapping in the process of students’ listening and note-taking lectures has been proved; the analysis and the lecture information supplementation within the framework of independent individual and collective work involving the cloud services use has been substantiated. An alternative to the manual and programmatic mindmapping use including the Freemind program has been determined. The conclusion related to the fact that the use of mental maps is able to shorten the students’ time for note-taking as well as to improve the information memorization and to provide this information with the personal significance and individual systemicity has been drawn.

The article discusses the problem of training primary school teachers regarding reforming primary education in Ukraine on the basis of competency-based approach. The principles of organization of education process consist in forming interdisciplinary (multicultural) knowledge and skills as well as the ability to function effectively in the conditions of global changes. The major issues of primary education to be taken into account in teacher preparation are: teaching children to use the acquired knowledge in life and correspondence of education content and methods to students’ age peculiarities. The competences to be formed in children fall into two categories: key competences (communicative, math, technology, information, interpersonal, intercultural, social, etc.) which provide the ability to use the obtained knowledge in problem-solving; subject competences being reflected in education curricula. The article presents the basic principles of developing motivation and self-motivation which are the basis of competence approach: subject competences (what we teach) should be formed on the basis of key competences (why we teach). The ideas of educational freedom and responsibility of teachers are discussed in the article.
