The aim of this service is to improve English for Nazhirul Asrofi Educational Foundation Kindergarten students. In reality, learning English is not an easy thing for kindergarten students. This is caused by several problems, including a lack of creativity as a teacher in implementing learning methods for kindergarten students. Many kindergarten students feel bored when learning English, so the author carries out Community Service, in order to help teachers at the Nazhirul Asrofi Educational Foundation Kindergarten by using different methods in teaching English, namely by telling stories and singing. With this training, the participants understand what all students experience in learning English, therefore all participants use learning media that is adapted to the method being taught and practice how to teach English using this method. Keyword: Sing a Song Method; English; Kindergarten Learning. Abstrak: Tujuan akhir dari Pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa TK Yayasan Pendidikan Nazhirul Asrofi. Kenyataannya, Belajar Bahasa Inggris bukanlah hal yang mudah bagi siswa TK. Hal ini disebabkan dari beberapa masalah, diantaranya karena kurangnya kreatifitas seorang guru dalam mengimplementasikan metode belajar bagi siswa TK. Banyak siswa TK merasa bosan Ketika belajar Bahasa Inggris, maka penulis meleksanakan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, guna untuk membantu guru di TK Yayasan Pendidikan Nazhirul Asrofi dengan menggunakan metode yang berbeda dalam mengajarkan Bahasa Inggris, yaitu dengan cara metode bercerita dan bernyanyi. Dengan pelatihan ini para peserta paham yang dialami oleh seluruh siswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, oleh karena itu semua peserta menggunakan media pembelajaran bercerita dan bernyanyi yang disesuaikan dengan metode yang diajarkan agar pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif dan menarik. One of the best potential mangrove forests is located in Lhokseumawe City. Mangrove forests function as protected areas in coastal areas and are used as vegetation whose existence must be maintained. Efforts to protect it can be carried out by mapping the distribution of mangrove forest areas as a database in Lhokseumawe City. Mapping the distribution of mangrove forest areas can be done using remote sensing. This research was conducted in October - November 2022 in Lhokseumawe City. The method used in this study is the visual interpretation of remote sensing imagery and field surveys. Visual interpretation techniques are used to find out the extent of information from satellite imagery in 2022 which has been geometrically corrected regarding mangrove forest vegetation. Field surveys are needed to obtain more accurate data results. The results of research on mangrove vegetation in Lhokseumawe City are found in 4 sub-districts, namely: Muara Satu District, Banda Sakti District, Muara Dua District, and Blang Mangat District with a total area of ± 65.74 Ha. The results of the density level of mangroves in Lhokseumawe City are dominantly rare with a value of 0.32 m2

Public speaking is a skill that everyone, including students, should have to increase their self-confidence. Public speaking cannot be avoided since basically humans often have to do it with various purposes. However, many students feel unable to speak in public because they lack confidence, don't master the material, or don't understand how to do it. This community service activity aims to do learning assistance for public speaking to increase the self-confidence of students at Gajah Mada Middle School, Medan. The methods used were direct lecturer, simulations and interactive discussions regarding the basics of public speaking, effective and good communication techniques, and various tips for developing yourself, especially in terms of public speaking. During the learning assistance, participants received basic material and public speaking techniques as well as direct practice. Meanwhile, the research used qualitative method for collecting data. As for the research results, the community service recommends the following: 1) Add extra hours to improve students’ English speaking, 2) Add contest that can motivate students to increase their confidence in public speaking, especially in English language.

The aim of this study was to find out the types of text are found in brochure hotel in Indonesia and to know the more dominant text are found in brochure hotel in Indonesia. The methodology adopted in this research was descriptive qualitative methods. The source of the data was taken from the texts of brochures hotel in Indonesia. This brochures are found in the famous hotel, like JW Marriot (in Medan, Jakarta), Trans Luxury (in Bandung), Hotel Inn (in Jogja) The Kuta Beach Heritage (in Bali) which using brochure to introduce the hotel. The result of the study shows that brochures hotel in Indonesia contains 13 types which include 1 types of text; Hortatory Exposition. Keywords: Genre, Brochure, Hotel.

This study aims to determine the development of blended learning on the results of learning English in PJKR study program. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental. The quasi-experimental method is different from the actual experiment. In the quasi-experimental method, it has a control group. The sampling technique used in this research is cluster sample or called group sample. Data collection is the most important part of research. Effective and complete data determine the quality of researchers. In this study the authors used the learning achievement test technique, test, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the research that had been done, the size of the concentration and distribution of the pretest result data for the experimental group were: the largest score was 75 and the smallest score was 36, the mean (mean) was 51.67 , the median is 52, the mode is 40.5 and the standard deviation is 11.91. While the posttest data results, the highest score was 91 and the lowest score was 45, the mean (mean) was 72.8, the median was 76.9, the mode was 77.6 and the standard deviation was 15.58. So, the objectives to be achieved in the learning design have been implemented for that, the blended learning model is able to influence student learning outcomes in English.

People cannot attain a communicative goal unless their words address specific cultural or contextual challenges. Thus, language is viewed as a social tool to assist humans in conveying meaning; but, this meaning cannot be obtained if words are conveyed in isolation. As a result, we require contexts or settings in which more phrases and words can be placed in order for listeners or readers to comprehend the meaning behind utterances and words. By applying Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics Theory, this study aims to observe one of three types of meanings, it was ideational meanings. It focuses on language which is used by people in both types of local and regional newspapers to convey information or messages about the experiences of the speakers. Each speaker used different clauses which contained dependent and independent clauses that we call clause complex. To analyze the aspect of projection; Hypotactic Locution, Paratactic Locution, Hypotactic Idea, Paratactic Idea, and Quasi-Projection which were used or appeared in Indonesian newspapers’ story texts. The significance of the study is to improve students’ linguistic knowledge and their writing skill by mastering text structures.

The lexical meaning was the smallest meaning unit in the meaning system of language that could be distinguished from other similar units. A lexeme was an abstract unit that occurred in many different forms of spoken or written sentences. Lexical associations were considered more important in the headline in the newspaper because they formed a semantic relationship and related to the most problematic coherence as open-word in the form of noun and verb since the lexical meaning of the words had the same meaning in the context. This research aimed to examine the use of lexical meaning in the headline newspaper of the Jakarta Post. The result found that there were few words whose lexical meaning correlated to certain semantic roles. As two semantic roles were used in analyzing the data, it was obtained that synonym words existed in 13 words, its percentage toward the article was 3.01%; and hyponymy words existed in 10 words, its percentage toward the article was 2.32%. This result indicated that lexical relations such as synonymy and hyponymy might vary to perform functions between sentences and clauses. Choosing the correct definition of a lexical word could avoid misinterpreting the proposition of the reader’s interpretation. It was determined that the Jakarta Post, especially in the headline entitled “Jokowi highlights tolerance at cultural congress conclusion,” contained mostly synonym words, which meant most of the lexical meaning of the words had the same meaning in the context.

Tulisan mahasiswa dalam teks berbahasa Inggris masih sering ditemukan kesalahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk megetahui kesalahan bahasa Inggris yang terdapat pada karangan deskripsi mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Semester 4, Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia Tahun Akademik 2021/2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan model pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data pada penelitian ini diambil dari 28 teks deskripsi bahasa Inggris mahasiwa. Data penelitian ini adalah kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung kesalahan tatabahasa yang kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan tiga kesalahan berbahasa yaitu 1) kesalahan Subject Verb agreement, 2) kesalahan tanda baca dan huruf kapital, dan 3) kesalahan keberterimaan.. Berdasarkan wawancara, faktor penyebab kesalahan pada karangan deskripsi responden yaitu pengetahuan tata bahasa Inggris yang terbatas.Kata Kunci: Kesalahan; Gramatikal; Deskripsi, teks Bahasa Inggris
