The purpose of the study investigated effect of concept motivation and timed testing teaching strategies on students' academic performance and interest in scientific and mathematical related concepts in basic science and technology, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area. In order to carry out the research work, two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Quasi experimental research design was adopted. The population of the study was 1645 JSS3 secondary school students in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. Simple random sampling technique was adopted in selecting two schools and intact classes of sample size 113 JSS3 students were used for the study. Two instructional guides (for concept motivation and timed testing strategies), Basic Science and Technology Performance Test (BPT) and questionnaire on students' interest to Basic Science and Technology, QSIB(α=0.82) were the four instruments used for the study. Mean score and standard deviation were used to answer the two research questions while ANCOVA was used to test the two null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that there was difference in the academic performance of basic science and technology students exposed to concept motivation and timed testing teaching strategies. There was difference in the interest of basic science and technology students exposed to concept motivation teaching strategy and those exposed to timed testing teaching strategy. It is therefore recommended that teachers should adopt concept motivation strategy to improve students' academic performance and timed testing teaching strategy to promote students' interest in Basic Science and Technology.
