Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a prevalent microvascular complication of diabetes, posing a significant health burden. Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, has shown promise in mitigating renal outcomes in DKD. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the renal effects of semaglutide in individuals with DKD. A comprehensive literature search identified six eligible studies, including two case reports and four cohorts, from diverse geographic locations. The primary outcomes assessed were changes in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and albuminuria. Secondary outcomes included acute kidney injury (AKI) incidence and other renal biomarkers. The impact of semaglutide on eGFR was variable, with some studies reporting decreases and others showing improvements or no significant changes. Albuminuria, however, was more consistently reduced, particularly in patients with macroalbuminuria. Notably, the case reports described semaglutide-associated AKI, including acute interstitial nephritis, highlighting the need for careful monitoring during therapy. Beyond renal outcomes, semaglutide consistently improved glycemic control and promoted weight loss, with generally manageable gastrointestinal side effects. The findings suggest that semaglutide may effectively reduce albuminuria in DKD, potentially slowing disease progression. However, the risk of AKI and the variable impact on eGFR underscore the need for a personalized approach and vigilant monitoring, particularly in patients with advanced CKD. Future large-scale, long-term randomized controlled trials are warranted to definitively assess the renal benefits and risks of semaglutide in DKD.

In the realm of pharmaceutical therapy, statins, beta-blockers, angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, and antiplatelet agents have shown significant effectiveness, as evidenced by landmark trials such as Scandinavian Simvastatin Survival Study (4S) and Heart Outcomes Prevention Evaluation (HOPE). Concurrently, lifestyle adjustments, encompassing physical activity, dietary changes, and management of stress, emerge as indispensable elements in cardiovascular care. The article discusses the pivotal role of patient adherence, tailored approaches, and the synergistic impact of combining medical therapy and lifestyle modifications. Challenges, such as socioeconomic disparities and uncertainties in lipid management, underscore the need for ongoing research and precision medicine. Digital health interventions offer novel avenues for personalized care. Despite advancements, uncertainties persist regarding the optimal balance between medical and lifestyle interventions in lowering major cardiovascular event risks. This article emphasizes the ongoing evolution of cardiovascular care, highlighting the imperative need for evidence-based guidelines tailored to individual patient needs.

Background Parkinson's disease (PD) is a condition that affects movement and is usually seen in those over the age of 50. It is caused by the death of dopaminergic neurons, particularly in the substantia nigra. PD has shifted from being perceived as an uncommon condition to a significant neurological illness, mostly due to the increasing number of elderly individuals and the impact of environmental factors. Parkinson's plus syndromes, such as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), multiple system atrophy (MSA), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and vascular Parkinsonism (VaP), provide difficulties in distinguishing them clinically from PD since they have similar characteristics. Methodology A thorough examination was performed utilizing the PubMed, Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. The search utilized specific keywords like “Parkinson's disease,” “Parkinson's plus syndrome,” “Lewy body dementia,” “Alzheimer's dementia,” “progressive supranuclear palsy,” and “multiple system atrophy.” The selection criteria were aimed at English‐language literature, with a particular focus on examining the connection between PD and associated disorders or dementias. Results and Discussion Parkinson's plus syndromes, such as PSP, MSA, CBD, and VaP, exhibit unique clinical characteristics, imaging results, and diverse reactions to levodopa. This makes it difficult to distinguish them from PD. LBD is characterized by Lewy bodies containing α‐synuclein, which leads to both motor and cognitive deficits. PD and Alzheimer's disease (AD) exhibit a complex interaction, including common pathogenic processes, genetic predispositions, and clinical characteristics of dementia. Conclusion The interrelatedness of PD, Parkinson's plus syndromes, LBD, and AD highlights the significance of comprehending shared disease‐causing processes. Aberrant protein clumping, impaired functioning of mitochondria, increased oxidative stress, and inflammation in the brain are common factors which can be addressed for specific treatments. More research is essential for understanding complicated connections and developing effective therapies for these sophisticated neurological illnesses.

Stroke, a major cause of disability worldwide, necessitates comprehensive rehabilitation, with nutrition playing a pivotal role in recovery. Our systematic review assesses the impact of nutritional interventions on stroke survivors' rehabilitation. Adhering to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, we systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus, using keywords related to stroke rehabilitation and nutrition. Studies were selected based on criteria emphasizing dietary interventions and their effect on functional recovery in stroke patients. The review involved detailed data extraction and synthesis, covering study design, participant characteristics, interventions, and outcomes. Five studies met our inclusion criteria, encompassing longitudinal and prospective studies, retrospective cohorts, and randomized controlled trials. These studies highlighted the importance of early nutritional assessment, particularly for sarcopenic patients, and the role of energy and protein intake soon after a stroke. Findings indicated high nutritional risk correlated with poorer functional outcomes and increased inflammation. Tailored dietary support appeared beneficial for muscle mass maintenance and overall functional recovery, especially in older patients. Our review emphasizes the critical role of nutritional interventions in stroke rehabilitation. It suggests that personalized nutritional strategies can positively impact functional recovery, notably in older and nutritionally vulnerable stroke survivors. These insights underscore the necessity of integrating dietary assessments and interventions into standard stroke rehabilitation protocols, advocating a holistic approach to patient care.
