Les Humanités Numériques sont des recherches interdisciplinaires invitant des acteurs des SHS à dialoguer entre eux et avec les sciences informatiques. Notre projet réunit littérature, linguistique et informatique pour élaborer l’édition savante numérique des réécritures du mythe d’Orphée et Eurydice, dans laquelle nous détectons, à l’aide d’outils informatiques dédiés, les réemplois intertextuels. Dans cet article, nous comparons d’abord l’efficacité de techniques linguistiques-informatiques permettant leur détection, nous démontrons ensuite, en présentant comment apparier des dénominations d’entités, que l’intégration de méthodes linguistiques améliore la qualité des résultats.

Cette étude propose une vue d’ensemble de l’offre de dictionnaires généraux électroniques payants et gratuits du français actuel sous l’angle inédit de sa comparaison avec l’offre de dictionnaires imprimés. Diverses propriétés des uns et des autres sont examinées successivement, des plus externes aux plus internes : dénominations, identité éditoriale et textuelle, modalités d’utilisation, accessibilité des nomenclatures, modes d’accès aux informations et cohésion de celles-ci.

Our project aims to expose the intertextual relationships observable within a heterogeneous literary corpus. For this purpose, we examine the output of two text reuse detection tools, Tracer and TextPAIR. We suggest some solutions to overcome the specific limitations observed in those tools and to enhance data quality. We believe that automatic analysis of the rewriting process can make it more comprehensible if the analysis is combined with empirical research methods adapted to the corpus in question.

A corpus collecting rewritings of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice allows us to study intertextuality and to represent it through a network of correspondences and within a comparative digital edition. For this purpose, we examine the output of two text reuse detection tools, TextPAIR and Tracer, in order to combine their treatments and exploit each one’s best potential. We propose a series of treatments to enrich the results and to overcome specific challenges observed. These technical manipulations allow us to interpret the results obtained for an essay by Pierre-Simon Ballanche and confront them with empirical analyses of the Orphic topos. Thus, we show that analysis supported by computational techniques is all the more useful for the study of intertextuality as it is adapted to the corpus.

In Tackling the Toolkit, we focus on the methodological innovations, challenges, obstacles and even shortcomings associated with applying quantitative methods to poetry specifically and poetics more broadly. Using tools including natural language processing, web ontologies, similarity detection devices and machine learning, our contributors explore not only metres, stanzas, stresses and rhythms but also genres, subgenres, lexical material and cognitive processes. Whether they are testing old theories and laws, making complex concepts machine-readable or developing new lines of textual analysis, their works challenge standard descriptions of norms and variations.
