With the aim of developing cognitive strategies necessary for the studying activity in college students, a workshop was applied to 10 University students in Bogotá, Colombia. The workshop was named "Intellectual action and the studying activíty" , and was based on the formation by stages of mental actíons developed by Galperin. The workshop had a duration of 20 hours, in 10 weeklysessíons, 2 hours each. At the end of the workshop it was obtained: the eonscíousness appraisal of the mental operations requíred for the task solution; ability to analyze and relate information; capacity for abstracting the situational meaning of a problem.vand knowing itsintrmsic meaning; use of logical or discursive memory;cornmunicative competence; and analysis of the oral and writen discourse.
